Two sessions of aimless wandering around the corn maze. I was laughed at by etoile and bologna, who seemed to be using some system associated with a diagramatic representation of the actual maze itself. I had one of those too, but I couldn't really make much use of it. I was pretty sure my diagram thingy was inaccurate. Or broken. And upside down sometimes. Useless, misleading junk really.

The annual Dances with Dirt starring Tarno, Al Maggedon, Katey Mac, KayakKeith and moi. 450 teams running 100 kms of southern Michigan woods and wilds. The neat trick of DwD is that there are teams of five that run 15 stages. That means each runner runs 3 stages--normally. Tough enough to run three legs, but in this edition, Al had to leave early and so could only do two. So Tarno ran the long loops and I ran four 5k trail races in one day. Whoah. Hard.

But great good fun.

Did it! 39:47.

Wasn't a whole lot of fun, but a good old downpour at 8k saved the day and put some gas back in the tank. Damn, 10k is a hard distance.

Bonus: the two guys ahead of me were, as it turns out, running the 15k. All of which became clear to me when we got to the 10k turn around, when, boom!, I was suddenly in the outright lead. And stayed there. And won the race outright. Which is pretty damn cool.

Double bonus. Seeing Balogna out there on the 5k course enjoying herself and running strong. First woman over 50;second runner regardless of gender over 50. Not that she was in any way, like, racing or anything
