Crossfit 55:00 [3]

8 x 3 minutes of a bunch of different stuff

Tuesday Oct 30, 2018 #

run 57:00 [3]

Was going to do Artahalfpipes, but decided to run the loop instead. Brisk fall morning. Special attention paid to the hills.

Monday Oct 29, 2018 #

Crossfit 1:00:00 [3]

Back squats, followed by a one mile challenge. 5:47.

Sunday Oct 28, 2018 #

run 1:25:00 [3]

Classic smt route. It is not hard to get myself to go out there. these are my favourite weeks in the Valley. Such beautiful colour.

forestry 1:30:00 [3]

Four hours of wood stacking after six of our dead ash trees were felled on Thursday by three crazed tree fallers. The guys even cut the wood into 16 inch chunks so that all that we have to do is store them until we need them. Balogna got in the mix too for awhile. Many hands make short work. Fire wood for the ages!

run 1:05:00 [3]

Super sweet run in the Valley with Rox after a 6am flight from Boston to make sure I got out before the big Nor'easter shut down the eastern seaboard.

Crossfit 45:00 [4]

Found a crossfit gym 350 meters from the hotel I'm at in Boston. These things are everywhere. The Brick was easily 3 times the size of Alchemy, but only four people in the class. Interesting. Felt more like a gym gym than a crossfit gym. Still, a good class. Pull up bar muscle ups. I used a box. first because I still don't know how to do them, and second because I'm still pretty sore from the Alchemy muscle up session on Tuesday.

Crossfit 55:00 [3]

Working in muscle ups. There's a technical thing in there that I have to figure out. Then pullups and other upper body

Crossfit 1:05:00 [5]

Got there a bit early and so warmed up with the jump rope. Then did a pretty bonkers workout of the day. Starting with 20 burpees and a 200 meter run. The 19 burpees and a 200 meter run, then 18 and so on. That's 220 burpees and 4 km of running. Goal was to do it in 35 minutes, which I did, but only by ditching the push up part of the burpee. Love that copper-blood taste in your mouth when you over exert yourself.

run 1:00:00 [4]

That was better. Not quite a burner, but close enough. Gonna give that a four. Yesterday was totally about the shingrix vaccine reaction. Wow. Did that ever knock me on my ass. But who wants shingles, right?

Ros was having a blast out there when we met another friendly, rowdy dog. They horsed around and Rox ran full speed into a tree. She's got some serious road rash.

Crossfit 55:00 [4]

Gonna lose a few days later this week and so threw a crossfire session because, well, there's always something new. Today was 18 medicine ball cleans every minute on the minute for six minutes . 14 pound ball for me (the RX is 50 pounds--someday). Who new time could be so elastic? Who knew six minutes could take that long.

Saturday Oct 20, 2018 #

run 1:55:00 [3]

Long run to farmers field. Wheels came off completely. Super tired. Walking parts. Rox was patient and loyal.

Friday Oct 19, 2018 #

Crossfit 55:00 [4]

Back squats and box jumps. Thousands and thousands of them. Oh and smash ball. I like smash ball.

Thursday Oct 18, 2018 #

run 55:00 [3]

Artabans. Four half pipes

Wednesday Oct 17, 2018 #

Crossfit 1:00:00 [3]

Some low, low squats to warm up. And then 150 wall balls as fast as you can. 10 minute cap. Breaks when you want. 20 pound medicine ball that you squat and then toss at a target that was (in my case) 8 feet up. The real men do the 10 foot targets, but I'm not there yet. Damn. Near. Killed. Me. But, man, a few hours later, it feels like my whole back is loose and happy.

run 55:00 [3]

hilltervals while Rox beat me with a stick.

Sunday Oct 14, 2018 #

run 55:00 [4]

Good old fashioned burner loop

Saturday Oct 13, 2018 #

run 1:35:00 [3]

Lovely fall light in the valley this morning. Rox yucked it up with the locals.

Friday Oct 12, 2018 #

Crossfit 55:00 [3]

A bit of a lighter one today. Felt an echo of a hint of a tweak with my old friend the SI joint doing burpees of all things and so backed way off. Think I caught it in time.

Thursday Oct 11, 2018 #

run 55:00 [3]

I like these sunrise runs.

Wednesday Oct 10, 2018 #

Crossfit 1:01:00 [4]

Crazy fun workout. Tire flips! First time. Sledge hammers! First time. I've been doing this for two months now. Every workout a challenge. Every workout, a new skill. Every workout completely different.

Monday Oct 8, 2018 #

run 1:04:00 [3]

Bonus holiday run.

Crossfit 1:00:00 [4]

Mega thanksgiving workout out involving rower, kettle bell and running in teams of three. Afterward a number of people spontaneously started talking about what a talented natural runner Anvil is. It was quite a remarkable outpouring of genuine admiration.

Sunday Oct 7, 2018 #

run 1:20:00 [3]

Four k2s in alternating directions. Pretty day to be out. Rox celebrated her second birthday by chasing everything.

Saturday Oct 6, 2018 #

run 1:10:00 [3]

Gorgeous run in a misty valley with Rox charming and terrifying walkers at random.

Friday Oct 5, 2018 #

Crossfit 55:00 [4]

4, 3,2,1 minute on the tower. Then core.

Thursday Oct 4, 2018 #

run 1:01:00 [4]

Jungle humidity run in the fall. And dark. Roxy always makes me fight with her over a stick on the way up K2. To use a Swiss watch analogy, that's a complication.

Wednesday Oct 3, 2018 #

Crossfit 55:00 [3]

Squat cleans and power cleans. I need to squat lower and I need more power.

Tuesday Oct 2, 2018 #

run 45:00 [3]

a rainy K2 some intensity and a rainy Artiban. Somber weather.

Monday Oct 1, 2018 #

Crossfit 1:00:00 [4]

Over head squats. Which it turns out I can't do. Not even a little bit. My rounded back keeps me from being able to lock my elbows and bending forward correctly. So until I get that sorted, it's all kinds of deep tissue and back stretching/strengthening. Private lesson with Duncan on how to unhunchback myself. WOD was 800 meters on the erg, two minutes rest, then 800 meets on the erg. 2:52 and 2:59. Lungburner.
