run 1:26:00 [3]
Valley run with Super under the hot tropical sun. Most Excellent. We discussed many things, as men will, but a matter of importance stood out: the Rŭlë relating to K2--particularly in light of recent infractions.
To review:
The basic Rŭlë, of course, is that no runner can run past either entrance to K2 without going up it. But there are some sub-Rulës (which necessarily involves dropping one stern looking accent mark).
sub Rulë 1: the full strength rŭlë applies only once per run, unless:
a) the group decides otherwise because its feeling all hair shirt about the run and is talking big talk about "suffer-fest" this and "suffer-fest" that; or
b) Sudden is with the group, in which case his Swedish origins make the run feel a bit more like a Bergman movie--the accompanying bleakness and despair leads the group to attack K2, Sisyphus-like, everytime single freakin' time.
sub Rulë 2: otherwise known as the "no man [used in its gender neutral sense in this instance-ed.] left behind" Rulë: ALL runners (not just SOME runners or the FASTEST runner, but ALL runners) have to turn around at the top and go back down to run with the slowest runner until everyone has summitted.
There are other aspects to the Rŭlë that are still in Committee. Revisions will be posted as they are released.
