run 3:52:00 [3]

Big run around the super loop. Likely the longest I'll run before Spain. Starts to become too much of a trudge. Next weekend another big coupla runs and then start to throttle back.

run 2:40:00 [3]

SMT with Sean and Felicia. Showed them around the trail system and tricked Sean into taking on K2 twice.

run hills 1:20:00 [5]

7 artabans, a whoop and a K2 from sea level. Not as springy as on Tuesday so didn't bother to time the assault on K2. Did see a pileated woodpecker on a downed log 10' to the right of the trail through the orchard. Surreal bird.

run 58:00 [3]

Run into work. Had a power failure at the office yesterday so went home with my notebook computer. That meant I had to run to work hauling a computer backpack. All part of the fun.

Coming up Main, this car starts honking like crazy. Turns out the driver was telling me my pack was splitting open. Which it had been for who knows how long. It's a clamshell pack with the hinge at the bottom and so was nearing the point of total failure. Close one.

I start running again and I hear this yelling. I look back and it's a kid--14 or 15 years old tops--running after me: your wallet! your wallet! I stop, confused, and realized that I had tossed my wallet in the pack and it had made its way free also who knows how long ago and this poor kid had been trying to catch me ever since. I stop, thank him for being so good and give him $20 for saving me from a world of hurt. Double close one.

run 50:00 [3]

A lot easier running home without a 15 pound pack on my back.

run intervals 1:05:00 [5]

Trail intervals. 8 of 'em varying in time from 4.5 to 6 minutes. 90-120 seconds between sets. Couldn't make it out to TnT and so made do with my classic ice cream cone loop. Also included a double K2, one of which (rep 6) was from sea level. Did it in 5:28 which is 14 seconds faster than 3 weeks ago. Back then I doubted anyone I knew could do in under 5 minutes. I take that back. The bar has to be lower than that. 4:30.

Also new rule for going up K2 the "easy" way. No stopping at the top. You have to surge over and keep charging along the summit until you get to the poem tree. Makes it more interesting.
