Cycle 1:15:00 [3]

Started with a bit of excitement. Balogna left before me on a run with our apex predator. I left 15 minutes later on Tall Boy. Thought I had missed them, but saw B. running on the Main Loop as I was coming in from Lions Club. I rode over to say hi and then continued ahead because Trix was back about 100 meters not paying attention to me. She had locked on to something in the woods.

I chatted for a minute and then rode toward the orchard. Got to the top of the hill and heard yelling. I spun around and bashed back to see Balogna smashing through the swamp in pursuit of our crazed dog. The scene didn't make a lot of sense until I saw that Trix was making short work of a fawn that was even smaller than she was. Crap.

B. was tiring and so I dove in. Just as I got to where the main action was , I saw that the fawn had pretty much given herself to her fate. She did a full Bambi. All four limbs flat in all directions. I didn't know they could do that in real life. Trix was hovering above wondering why the fun was suddenly taking this strange turn.

I got to the poor thing, stood between it and Trix and managed to grab a chunk of dog. Not pretty and not especially kind, but effective. Balogna arrived just on time to get the leash on just as my grip was slipping.

The two of us watched as the fawn got up, staggered a bit and then trotted unsteadily into the woods.

Yikes. Sorry all you little animals of the forest. Trixy has a good heart. Honest. Please don't seek revenge by stalking us or burning our house down.

run 1:20:00 [3]

Heavy, heavy SMT run in the valley with Turbo and the octoped. knee stiff and swollen. Could it be weather related? I really don't want one of those knees that can predict the weather.

run 46:00 [3]

Cool run to K2 and up and then over to Artaban and up. As T Rix and I got to the top of Artaban, she surprised a wild turkey. With 100s of meters of run way and no clear ability to take off clean, the epic chase was on. I had no idea turkeys could sound that scared. It was amazing to watch, Trix about 10 feet behind at full speed after a bird that can't...quite...take...off. It got away, fortunately, but our little apex predator was flush with the glory of it all.
