Friday Mar 6 #

run 3:30:00 [3] 11.5 km (18:16 / km)

Up Ruminahui, one the highest active volcanos on earth. Not as scary as imbibui, but sleet and rain caught us just below that peak. We were equipped for it, but the weather at 15,100 feet certainly spiced things up. Spectacular descent though.

Thursday Mar 5 #

hike 1:35:00 [2] 6.2 km (15:19 / km)

Another chill, but super cool hike/jog. Ending with an outstanding waterfall viewing. Tomorrow is a big mountain day.

Wednesday Mar 4 #

hike 2:20:49 [2] 9.59 mi (14:41 / mi)

More hike than run, but still some bursty bits, at Pasochoa. Good day to look at Andean flora. Not much fauna.

Tuesday Mar 3 #

run 4:01:00 [3] 9.8 km (24:36 / km)

Climb of mount Imbabura, an extinct volcano. Definitely a hard 10k. But got to 15,000 feet after some challenging scrambling up some major steep rock. Fantastic day of it.

Monday Mar 2 #

run 2:23:30 [3] 14.97 km (9:35 / km)

Spectacular run strong the entire Cuicocha Lagoon

Yep. We ran around that.

Sunday Mar 1 #

run 1:56:00 [3] 4.98 km (23:18 / km)

Up Fuya Fuya. 534 meters of climbing and descending in 4.98km.

Crossfit 1:00:00 [3]

Landed in Quito at 7am and just for grins immediately ran a search on CrossFit Quito. Boom. Four of them, one looking like it might be close to our lovely hotel. A five minute walk as it turns out. Well, whatcha gonna do? It’s just calling us. So we had a quick breakfast and at 9:30 we’re in a class. Hilarious. And what a great gym. Light, airy and spacious.

Wod was rowing, rope climbs and squats. The coach asked if we had done it before and we both casually say yes. Then he asks us to demonstrate. Joany rips up the rope like she’s been doing it her whole life. I did it legless, which was a bit showy, but hey we were on the spot.

Tons of fun. Another in our collection of gyms around the world.
