Orienteering race 44:54 **** 5.7 km (7:53 / km)

Regionale 5. Decided to do the short version of the harder set of courses as I have not had much training recently and was feeling very tired from work. This is a very challenging area (rocky, steep, bracken) so I knew that I would not be required to really run fast, just be accurate and read the map well. It turned out there were some restrictions on the forest use which meant that there were two long track legs that enabled me to stretch out a little. Apart from that, I navigated quite well, with just a couple of controls requiring me to hunt a little. But never lost more than a minute or so on these controls and was mostly quite confident and on target. Good run and was glad to finish up the year with a decent run (I don't think I will be able to get out for another O race before heading to NZ for Xmas). Was glad I did the shorter course as was quite happy to finish up after 5.7km!
