orienteering race 2:03:49 [3] 9.4 km (13:10 / km)

Blue Course at the hickory run training camp. Pretty solid technical race for me except for the first control where I lost about 5 minutes after a poor bearing. Then I was going head to head with an adventure racer for the next 7 controls until he blew control 8. It was fun to be racing against someone in the woods. He was more physically fit but I would say that my mind was more sharp. I also have a lot of experience at hickory run after setting course and running their since I was 14 or 15.

Got some pretty bad cramps right before the second to last control. I need to take better care of my body before a race to avoid these kinds of problems.

Overall it was a really fun course and the woods were beautiful.

orienteering 44:34 [3] 3.0 km (14:51 / km)

Night-O

It's been a couple of years since I have orienteered at night. So what happens when you don't orienteer at night very often? You blow the first control and lose about 4 or 5 minutes. It's upsetting because it was one of the more simple controls. After that I was clean until the end of the race which felt good. I would like to do more night orienteering if possible.
