Orienteering race 20:50 [3] 4.4 km (4:44 / km)
spiked:26/30c shoes: Inov8 Flite 195

Had a pretty solid first few controls, perhaps wasn't reading ahead as much as I needed to in a few places (to number 4). Biggest error was to control 10. Saw that the passage going straight toward the control, turns out that it was in fact a multiple level area where the stairs could not be mapped. Confused out of my mind I ended up going the long way around (lost about 45 seconds). Hesitated a bit to 13, building seemed to be a bit bigger with a canopy.Seemed a little like control picking for the last few controls (last 6). Hesitated to a few again but not the end of the world. Would have been better if I had been reading ahead. (need to work on it a lot, perhaps a bit on control flow, though they are both related)

Surprised by the win even after the huge mistake. Was a very cool map though.

Had an awesome chat with Garry this afternoon. I am really keen to slowly start building up my abilities to really try and perform at WOC (even if it is not in France this year). There are much more important things than the short course events, in fact more important that the log in general.

Orienteering (Kloofendal Squad Training) 50:00 [3]
shoes: Montrail Rockridge

Had 4 hill interval courses (around 3 km in total) and then a map memory. Messed up one control on the map memory (mainly due to visibility issues). In many places the area was mapped as white when it should have been rough open ground.
