Orienteering race (SC Final) 19:17 [3] 3.8 km (5:04 / km) +60m 4:42 / km
shoes: Inov8 Flite 195
American International School Johannesburg -- 1:2500
3: Could have possibly gone north instead of taking my chances through the cafeteria (which isn't quite as open as it is mapped [with tables and chairs]).
5: Huge pile of bricks threw me off a little when exiting 4, but I just went below it (after quite a hesitation)
9: Had read to 9 ahead of time so I was expecting it :).
15: Interesting route choice options here. Nic told me that going left was faster than going right (but it will be interesting to see the splits regardless). I did see both options, but decided to go right.
20,21: Some hesitation through the buildings. At this scale decisions felt a bit rushed
23: Bit confused by the angle from 22 after entering the courtyard, the exit didn't seem to line up.
24: Such a long finish control :P. Dropped 5m before realising that the finish was actually on the same level.. Was definitely a bit silly.. Some of the girls even beat me to the finish :P.
Good race, no real complaints other than perhaps speed at times. This race ends the sprint season which has been quite successful for me (winning 7/9 races of which 1 race I was overseas for).
Hopefully I can start getting some quality training in over the summer/(winter [Europe]).
