Event: Rat Race

rat race race 3:00:00 [5]

I had dumped all the stuff they gave us in the car so our first port of call was the car to pick up the map. feeling underpressure right from the start. We quickly put an x on the map for each control. then numbered them and added times for a few that were critical. It was then fairly obvious to us that alot of the close ones had early cutoff times. so we decided to loop round the city then out to the north west and make it up as we go from there.
we figured point zero to be near St Georges / barrack St intersection.
first pizza then down to council house for John to get his feet wet. cross the road and ran smack into point zero ( a bit of luck). then the baristers with a false start who knew there was more than 1 barrister in london court. then up hay st for the easy three in a row ending with pp.
next stop was the rat hunt we had plenty of time to get there as it didn't start till 5:25 so we walked a bit to catch our breath. hit the intersection at 5:25 saw a team run to the rat and punched at 5:25:12 perfect timing.
then through ayye captain on the way to rock climbing. Pete was feeling fit so he went up. then to the aids memorial and onto sync diving. gave me a chance to rest while the other two dived/jumped. then to soccer and hyde park easy as. then in to the city for the parkour karaoke and under the dualis. aquick run out to east perth picking up the mint and queens park gardens on the way.
At this point we were still hoping to make it back to kung fu. well until we saw the blind folded paddling. John got frustrated with our in ability to go straight and I had to reassure him that they wouldn't go straight even if we could see. of course watching murray and karens crew paddle on sunday proved it is possible to go straight, just not for me. then around the river to the causeway and too late for the ducks but just in time for meet the bill.
then a finally sprint back for pump it up.
In hind site the only change we might have made is to drop the crocs in an attempt to make kung fu and surrounding points but realistically we may not have made it anyway . I was just going through the motions for pumpit up.
