Still a little sore in the calves, but not bad enough to excuse not going out on such a beautiful day. I got a new rear derailleur and new sunglasses, so those were fun to try out. The RD didn't feel any different, but that's ok cuz my old one was broken. The sunglasses are polarized, and it helps a lot more than you realize. My friend and I took it medium pace, trading off pulls and sprinting it out a little, but the ride ended up being pretty fast which is fun.

Warm up/down (up) 20:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Flyknit Lunar 3

Orienteering race (NAOC 2016 Sprint) 16:07 [5] *** 3.2 km (5:02 / km) +70m 4:32 / km
26c shoes: Nike Zoom Streak LT 2

I felt pretty good when I was warming up, but I didn't want to blow out too badly at the end of the race so I took the first 2 controls a little slow. I nailed the 2nd control, which gave me a lot of confidence that I had what it would take. I ran past the 3rd control because it was behind a pillar, but that happens sometimes. I also had bobbles on 12 and 19, but no more than 5-10 seconds each. My pace definitely fell off after the spectator loop, but I think I actually made up 2 seconds on Anton in that section.

12 PM

Orienteering race (NAOC 2016 Sprint Relay) 15:40 [4] *** 2.7 km (5:48 / km)
22c shoes: Nike Zoom Streak LT 2

I was feeling pretty tired for this one. The first part of the course was alright, but a little shaky. I had a dumb route out of 2, and came out of the woods 20 meters off of 5. The last part of the course I totally messed up. I went to 16, 17, and then went through the passage to the west and then to 21, 20, 18, and then 19. Only after punching 19 did I realize I had totally messed up, so I had to go back to 20 and then 21. I think I lost about 1:30 with that, which put Austin way down in the pack.
