cycle (uh oh) 1:07:00 [2]

first time on clipless pedals... ummm, yeah. not really a training ride as i was really struggling to get the hang of it - just about got out of edinburgh alive and the chain slipped off the front gear - after taking it to a workshop to get it adjusted just this morning - nice work bike shop guy... On the way back fell while stationary at traffic lights (very embarrassing) - bloody toll cross misled me with it's 3 lanes and 3 seperate traffic lights - i started off, clipped in, only to realise my lane was still on red... so stopped, and couldn't unclip in time... got a few looks, especially from the police car sitting right next to me
So now i've taken the bike in to a different place - it'll hopefully be working properly by tomorrow... although can't say i'm looking forward to riding again on clipless - maybe an early morning ride oin Tuesday to avoid the traffic.
My knee isn't in great shape - still popping and clicking - it's a little worrying to be honest, it's even doing it on the bike so I'm worried i'll have to stop that too, at least it's not actually painfull but it doesn't sound good at all!

cycle (exercise bike :-() 45:00 [3] 12.75 km (3:32 / km)

Pretty pathetic effort, knee is crunching each time it bends, not the best sign so stopped early... did some weights after for gluteals and hip abductors, then some stretches and relief stuff for itb. It's too windy to ride outside today and tomorrow unfortunately

Swim 51:23 [3] 1.2 mi (42:49 / mi)

Same as yesterday, not very fast! Knee was popping while cycling to work... oops. Maybe the physio does know what she's on about...

Swim 52:36 [3] 1.2 mi (43:50 / mi)

First swim in ages - really slow and shit, took too many breaks. Went out really fast first few laps and was pooped for the rest of it. Had to alternate front crawl/breast stroke as my arms were done after about 15! must start slower! aiming for 40 mins in a couple of weeks...

run 44:11 [4] 10.0 km (4:25 / km)
shoes: NB 1220

urgh... no repeat of yesterday then... aerobic fitness is poor, can't keep up a good pace. knee hurt a tiiiny bit (maybe just in my head). will take a rest from running tomorrow (probably) and do lots of stretching, should be fine

cycle 3:05:53 [3] 45.0 mi (4:08 / mi)

new route! to Lanark (& back). was windy... should've been approx 60 miles but gave up a few miles early... the way out is hard, has all the headwind and most of the uphills. Felt like I was going about 2mph. not too bad on the way back, nice tailwind - very fast. Lost half the gears by then as the cable is still stretching in, but wasn't too bad. Raised the seat by an inch which seems to have reduced back pain considerably.
Roadkill seen- 1*rabbit, 1*feathery bird, 1*fawn (yuk)

run 40:51 [4] 10.0 km (4:05 / km)
shoes: NB 1220

not sure if i believe the distance, considering i had stitch the whole way round, had already done 3hrs cycling and the wind was stupidly strong in places, but google maps says it was 10K...

Monday Mar 23, 2009 #

run 41:31 [3] 8.5 km (4:53 / km)
shoes: NB 1220

NB- if running while waiting for a plane, don't drop your boarding pass half way round and not notice for another 5 minutes or so... Tried fairly hard on the first half, spent 5 minutes madly looking for the boarding pass, then carried on at a slower pace. distance is a guess...
