Orienteering race 1:08:15 [5] 7.5 km (9:06 / km) +200m 8:02 / km

Blaise WNL 1 hour score.

After registering people was not very well organised as managed to start with no timing device at all e.g. no phone or watch. Had to just wing it timing wise. Castle first seamed good as lots of close points. 113 ended up on higher path and had to go back down. 129, 104, 105, 124, 106, 108, 107, 109, 110, 111, 130, 123, 121, 126, went back up and down beach grove as the route I knew for 128, 120, 119, 122, 118, 117. here I had to decide if I was getting them all or skipping some. As I had not really made a serious mistake and was going better then the previous 3 events I decided to carry on. I was probably scoring close to the rate of any penalties so it would not be too bad whatever the time and I could of still been inside. 125, 116, a bit of a wobble for 115 ended up to low on lower path then thought I saw it and went up early and was contouring above the path. Turned wrong way getting down to 127 but realized soon. a bit slow contouring thought the stuff into 112. 103, 114, 102, 101 and a hard effort back to finish. Not surprised to be late but was hoping for less than 8 mins late. Still enough for 4th MatW cleared a few seconds over the time.

Event went off well. a bit worried as Charles and Gwen took really needed torches by the time they got back and not all the controls had been woken up but OK. 40 competitors was reasonable. Royal signals taking the event next week seriously with 3 out getting some training in. Very impressed by James in 10th for his 2nd event and 1st night event.
