Shirenewton, Devauden, Treleck, Tintern. Finaly found the road down the far valley into Tintern. Cool but warm enough that I took my windproof off and had a chilly ride rather than a sweaty one. Very steady going. Logfile broke a number of times good job bike computer V2 is coing along nicley. bought some bits of plastic to make a case with may have it semi functional on the bike in a week or two.

Snow had done the runabiulity of the wood a lot of good not too much slower going straight. 4th when I left 3 minutes off 1st.

Main road to Wentwood climb, over to Usk then back to Chepstow. 4 took the high road from Wentwood. A few icy bits to be carefull with but nothing too bad. Pushed hard on the climbs as not going out with the Sunday run tommorow. Only one puncture this week so a big imporovment.

Hoc Night Score at Higate Common I ran there 15 years ago, mixed open scrubby wood, faiurly flat lots and lots of paths some bad undergroth.

Things did not go well my new light gave me trouble. It was bouncing too much on the headband I will clearly have to put it on the Silva headframe to keep it still. Then after 20 minutes one of the cells protection circutes tripped and I had to finish with my BD Spot so went from 2000+ lumen to about 50... Cleared up the main area keeping to the paths mainly and running around as best I could. With 10 minutes I was about 1 km from the finish and there is a big OOB bit so 400m dead running twice to get to the bit of wood with the final 6 CPs in it. I decided I did not have time so just set off jogging to the finish with just the 1 CP by the finish to get. Turns out I made a 90 degree error and ran the wrong side of the OOB into the bit of wood with the 6 controlls diaganoly across in and off the map before I finaly hit a road by a house. I am clearly off the map as there are no houses by any roads.... ended up with a very quick mile along the road back onto the map to the finish where I was 4 minutes late....

I will have to test all my cells to see if I can find any other dodgy ones.

Wednsday ride. Paul and Geoff Ripley how has been out on some Saturday and Sunday rides. Said he was not working so I invited him along. From cherry Orchard, out Tytherington way Paul was not feeling too well and turned back. Main roads to wooton up Old London road climb. harder than Saturday. Found my multi tool at the top so a good result. Along the road like Saturday then left and down past ashcroft House very mudy with nice mixed in the mud, good job Geoff has worked as an MTB guide a number of summers. New roads for me making it up as I went, kingscote, Chavenage green, Tetbury Will try and get Saturday run along here sometime in the summer. Shipton Monye, East gray, Norton, Grittleton, The gibb, Burton then up the back road and down Hinton hill and home though Pucklechurch. Had a puncture crossing A46 was freezing changing the tire. Will be ordering some new tires.

A good outing with some new roads for me. did not get too lost for making it up as I went without a map.
