MTBO race 22:35 [4] 5.4 km (4:11 / km)
shoes: Scale

MTBO national league round 1 MOD Stafford. Prologue, which was just to set start times for final and did not count. Not much warmup got going early in a gap between the showers. Just 95% rather than totaly flat out. Harder going than expected could go anywhere and the grassy stuff was fairly soft. Basicaly OK experimented withg CC route for 12 and had to carry bike over big ditch definatly learnet to not go over rough open where posible. Split for 16 looks slow but don't remember anything going wrong. 7th place 2+ mins off Killian how swept up all the later starters. Had problems getting left foot to stay clipped in, was wearing the winter boots will change to light weight shoes for final.

Serious coughing session for 10 minutes after finishing.
12 PM

MTBO warm up/down 10:00 [1] 1.0 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Scale

Bit of a warmup before the final. Went around the punching challenge a few times trying my clipped in punching. Possible to try with newer quicker dibber that registers even when not in the hole properly. Still costly when you mess it up as you typicaly have to wheel back about a foot...

MTBO race 36:48 [5] 8.8 km (4:11 / km)
ahr:165 max:178 shoes: Scale

Final. we were starting in 3s doing a clover leaf course, I had two groupes after me at 2 and 4 minutes. Started well although fellt very slow up the grass and up hill to 4. 5s loss of time to 4 as I had to dismount for a 1 foot curb I should of gone around or bunny hoped... Missed path route to 14 and had to come back some and carry up hill by end of lake (15s). May of missed optimum route to 17. Feeling I was slowing on the 3rd (longer for me) loop, slight overshoot of path for 31. Fell for the in the hanger hazard on 34 15S. Some pushing though the rough open out of 36 maybe lost some time not going round to the south. A bit of troube dibbing the finish controll 1S....

Suffering on second half. Lack of interval sessions on the bike probobly showed a bit with this. Stoped trying to do standing punches after the first loop, gets a lot harder when your breathing hard...

Finished to take the lead Andy C came in about two minutes latter and I thought he had had me but when he downloaded he was 3 seconds back, then less than 2 minutes latter in came Killian and Windy (caught 2 minutes) with Alan Hartley with in 20 seconds of Killian having a flyer as well. Come download and Killian did not apear in the results he had managed to misspunch the second to last!!! Alan downloaded and we had a dead heat for first place. The results of some good training hours for him.

Good to win one at last.

Work to Coiumb dingle for Westbury training then on home. Legs tired after efforts but legs kept spinning around fairly well at 24 hour type pace so fairly pleasing.

Intervals with Mikes groupe. short hill reps around Southdown and Hilsdon roads. Flat, round corner up then next corner and up to finish at next bend. 54,50,50,51,52,53,54,54,56,52 Suffered quiter a lot on the second half. Almost stoped after the second rep as calved felt tight but they were ok on the third so carried on. Realy slow joging back to coumb dingle, got left way behind the groupe to the extent that they did not realise they had lost me, which I had knowen as I would of cut back through the cemetry.
