MTBO race 2:54:51 intensity: (1:46 @1) + (23:12 @2) + (49:52 @3) + (1:16:54 @4) + (23:07 @5) 61.38 km (2:51 / km) +1121m 2:37 / km
ahr:151 max:172 shoes: Lux

61.381km with 1121m climb in 3:05:08. British mtbo score champs day 2 3 hours. Good bit of overlap with day one. Plan before the start was to go clockwise and do flatter quicker Stuf first before the hillier southern bit. Leaving top right 3 for the end unless relay big points.

Raining at start top of hill only 15 points so quick decisions to skip that and headed uphill for 4,5 down through town 17. Realised I had forgotten bottle. At least the bike was light. Same as yesterday for 16,9,8. Next across road for awkward 22 more familiar stuff 10,12,15, 14. Splits all well up on yesterday pushing hard. Decided to do 11 before 13 as less climb this way but a proper push to 13. 26. Nice down power lime descent before road back up to top of parkend walk and 25 24 big zig zag gentle up hill to 23 then big zig zag across Mosley green not being able to cut through frustrating to 20. Still less than 2.5 hours so south for 19 and up to top of hill. Skipped 10 pointer 18 to be sure of getting into ne corner 6 back past finish and climb for 3 and 2 same as start yesterday so confident worth it even though a bit late but no time for 1.

Pleased at finish I could not of done much better no real issues with nav and a good route. 499 points just infront of Graham 495 so one threat dealt with but had to wait a bit for Ian but good news in the end his route was a bit off only 460 for the day and behind Clares impressive 470.

Have a well earnt beer tonight.

MTBO race 4:20:15 intensity: (6:06 @1) + (46:26 @2) + (55:30 @3) + (2:06:50 @4) + (25:23 @5) 85.52 km (3:03 / km) +1553m 2:47 / km

85.524km with 1553m climb in 4:52:02. British mtbo score champs day one 5 hours FOD. Set out looking to clear as sealed very possible. Lots of rout options. 3,2,1,18 were a fairly obvious start. Decided to come back for 4 and 5 rather than leaving them for the end. Bit of trouble finding 5. Went for the middle Beechenhurst bit of the forest next 17, 21, 22, long for 14 now but far less climb than doing it later. 23, 22. Did the middle 2 in Brially next as out and back 31, 30. Stoped by the lights at the CInderford turn on main road had a good drink. 29 and across to cross the main road into lightning tree at the high point.

26 is where the trouble was path bend was obvious then tree 10m west this is of course a forest there were lots of trees to check but no sight of any tape or si box. Checked other side of track and 50m back and onwards as far as the fence. After 6 mins decided to go down single track path from corner about 200m down there was a good bend so searched all the trees there as well before giving up and going back up. After about 10 mins looking all told gave it up and headed for 19. Next big zig zag down to get to bottom end of lighting tree for 27. No tape heard but there was only 1 tree fitting description so spotted box ok. North for 28 went towards bw but backed out as looked slow so around road and big climb to 36 zig zag down to 35 bw muddy heading for 34 and some tough climbs on the road. 33, quick down to 32,25. 24 round the back of the trail center for 13 onto biplane for 11 and across to Cannop ponds 10, 12. Onto the last o map with malards pike. Fairly sure of clearing now but getting tired 15,16 fast drop to 9 and 8 but busy on track. One last long climb for 7 were stupidly overshot then stoped just short for 6 and searched well around elder flowers before going on and finding another 30m on.

In with 8 mins to spair. Not given 26 it was apparently there but no tape. need to use more distinct feature. There was a good fence corner 50m south here that would of been far better. Surprised no one else cleared 10 point lead over Ian and 20 over Graham. Would of been better with 10 more points will have to ride well tomorrow.

Locked my bike up as was leading overnight last year only to have it stolen overnight.

22.280km with 467m climb in 1:04:27. 1 hour mtbo score from Devauden. My route was far from perfect and I was a bit all over the place to 1. Other way down to the 30 pointer early would of been best. Still a good workout.
