Note

BOK Night Training session seamed to go OK. Tommi and myself to help, two adult beginners plus a farther and daughter beginner pair. All familiar with Blaise which I think helped. Then 4 experienced people with Teriza, MattW, Tom and Sophie. Tommi went with the two adults I was planning to just go around the back and pick up the reflectors but steered the family pair the right way to number 1 where as every one else went the wrong route which meant we were approaching it from the bottom just as the others started coming in from the top. Advised the family pair as to which ones to go for and waited for the rest before getting 1 and heading off with Tommi and co. Had to wait a bit before getting 3 as MatW had gone via 2 and then straight lined the gorge!. Collected 3, then 4 and back with Tommi and co going to 5. Did a bit of relocation exercise to get 5. Then we split up with the two beginners choosing different routes we arrived at 7 together. I told Tommi they needed to go to 8 and think about heading back and rushed off to get 6 and 9. Caught the family going to 10 also ran into Sophie there and told them all they needed to be heading back. Left myself 15 mins to collect 12, 13, 11, 14, 15 and finally 2 where I ran into Tereza and then a sprint to the finish only a couple of mins late. A bit Surprised everyone was back. I had also managed to get all but 3 of the reflectors in.

Every one seemed to enjoy it but a couple more experienced people to help beginners would of helped as would of my planning a slightly shorter more beginner friendly loop. I was not really expecting total novices. Without the prompting to get a shift on towards the finish I think they would of happily been out there a good bit longer.

MTBO race 2:56:39 [4] 53.0 km (3:20 / km) +1250m 2:59 / km
shoes: Lux

3 hour MTBO score. Forgot phone so guessing distance and climb. Will revise once I see others routes on Strava.

As not into the corners twice I decided probably clearable not at all obvious what to do first or where to change took some time thinking about it. decided in blue and down Tintern way to start leaving the Wolverstone road loop for the end of the reds.
2 ok overshot track junction off road going to 16 realised on wrong side of river. drop to 14 was rough. 12 ok then big climb up to 10, decided on out the way I had come in for 24, climb again then on and off pushing up to track for 8 which I went past without punching close to major track junction before realising and had to go back 2-3 mins lost. took southern option for 4 stayed on main track going to 6. 22 ok, took northern route out for 20 as wanted to see the exit onto the road but was more climb than I was expecting. Big climb and dropped into 18 last blue in 1.27. Managed to ride out of 18 for muddy 19. quick down to 21 bit of climb back up to 23 which I saw 50m away going into it. good bit of climbing for 5 took small track up instead of around big bend for 3 as looked ridable and was more interesting than forest road. Stuck to main track around slop for 1. 7 ok some pushing involved getting up to 9 and more on the track above. Took road option after this back past start finish for 11 then straight back to the main road and onto the final road loop good fast decent after 13 had to slow for 2 horses going into 15 and then again coming back out before the final big climb back via 17 to the finish.

Cleared it but it took longer than I would of guessed just the one little error and the forgetting to punch 8 which would of been very annoying. marks route through those was probably better 10, 8, 24 as a bit less climb coming into the wood from the southern side.

Enough for the win from Ian with a classic Ian mad route for 1 short and Mark how 2 short I think. So good form on the bike continues.

Agreed with Sion about MTBO on the Monday after Omm Bike. Will use Mallards pike section of the forest. Need to get hold of base map from NGOC and get out and classify all the tracks. Should be good for a middle race post the Omm bike. Setting the controls up early Monday after the omm bike want be so much fun.

Mtb 3:26:02 [2] 45.16 km (13.2 kph) +823m
shoes: Lux

45.156km with 823m climb in 3:26:02. Went to find somewhere new to ride as had Oxwich the wrong week. Hard into the wind early on the soft bits were very soft ended up pushing a few times with no traction with my summer tires. Need to get something for the mud. Getting the wind behind was nice. Skipped the bit through west woods as car park where started shut at 5 and a big soggy bit would of made it close. Plenty of time as things were.
