84.712km with 1464m climb in 4:19:05. Reride of the first day of the national camps in the FOD 2017 from soudley. Went opposite way to original but plan to do same route. 30s wasted at first road getting confused. Quick going through Mallards pike and Cannop ponds. up through Bixlade just and back of cycle center very quiet.

Here I made a big mistake cycle path back of the Quarry needed the path contouring the bit of wood south of the Pluds north of the field we Park in for events. Confused but thought OK when I hit a road and a house with a big view! Turns out I am over 1km out about 130 degrees off angle the wrong side of the major valley and high above upper Lydbrook. Close to the next one so skip the intended one for latter and carry on.

The muddy bw on the northern edge was nice and dry big climb up to Wigpool. Took the one up on the top next to give myself options latter with the missed one to revisit. Big drop down and took bw to abenhall I have raven Road before was fun but Road quicker I guess. Bottom of lightning tree and the big Road zig zag to climb up took 18 here out of order compared to previous but was very close. Right over the top of lightning tree clean through the Cinderford lights. The two in brierly then down for the one missed earlier. Zig zag through New Beachenhurst. Climb back up back of Cinderford. Just 3 to go and the second big mistake of the day. Lower instead of upper track from soudley ponds carport and ended up having to do the steep technical bw climb to get back on track.

4:24 riding time 4:19 moving which compares to the 4:20 moving on race day but with having to find and punch the checkpoints I was out 4:50 then. Annoyed at getting lost but speed clearly good.
