Running race (Great NOSH) 1:18:27 [5] 14.91 km (5:16 / km) +700m 4:16 / km

soooooooo long!! there was a sign that said i was 14 km in, i looked at the garmin and i was only 13.5! i did a really good time, and managed 2 grab 1st in the under 17s men. got about 45th overall.

Julian got 1st.

I got brand new shoes yesterday, and now they're all muddy from the puddles and mud left over from yesterday.

not sure about my climb, the garmin says 1365m, which is definitly wrong (yes, the garmin is a 305).

Soccer 1:00:00 [5]

2-0 win!!! 1st win 4 our saturday team in the season! we played really well.
i got a run from our goal line, got 75m up the field and then the linesman called offside because my teammate (about 30m away from me) was offside when i kicked it forward. i ran on 2 it, not him, but he was apparently interfering with a defender. i would have scored, and even the ref agreed afterwards that it wasnt offside, he just had 2 follow his linesman cos it would have sparked up an arguement. if it wasnt offside, then i would have lost my advantage as play had stopped.

Soccer 1:00:00 [3]

left my sports gear on the bus! bad as i had 2 do this session in school uniform, and because my running shoes were in it. now ill need 2 get them back 2morrow, or else be disadvantaged in the NOSH on sunday.

pretty easy session on the whole, just some simple attack/defense drills. about 5 people were on the 1 day Canberra excursion 2day (i dont see the point), so there only 8 or 9 of us there.

Running 5:05 [5] 1.0 km (5:05 / km) +100m 3:23 / km

ran on the treadmill during PASS 2day as we were in the weights room. did a couple of strength exercises as well, but at a really low intensity.

yes, i know my time looks really, really slow, but if u take into account the fact that i had the treadmill on a 10% incline the whole time, i think it was pretty good.

Soccer 1:00:00 [3]

9-0 loss against Homebush (the best team in the division). we were 4 down at half time, and decided that we had no hope of winning, so everyone started playing a little more informally. we could probably have improved the score 2 7 or 8 nil if we didnt do this.

Note

ICAS computer skills test.

How r we supposed 2 know what computer codes mean? about 5 questions were, if so and so enters this code then what will be the result. unless we spend our time building websites 24/7, how r we supposed 2 know that?

Running Training (with Chris Fuller) 2:00:00 [5]

8 laps of the oval
200m of throwing the 3kg medicine ball over your head
200m of throwing the 3kg medicine ball over your head and behind you
8 x 50m sprints whilst holding the 3kg medicine ball over your head
18 cones shuttle run - i got a 2.11, which was slow...

then i did the circuit 4 times. it involved:
12 x curls
12 x unknown exercise (involved moving a bar up and down quickly)
12 x unknown exercise (involved bowing with the bar behind your head)
12 x weights (lifting a weight above your head)
2 x 30m sled (running with a sled tied 2 your back)
12 x hip flexes
12 x sit ups
12 x bridges (making an arch with your body)
36 x barrels
60 x reverse crunches
36 x unknown exercise (involved holding a ball between your knees and then twisting in a strange way)

after the circuit, i also did:

4 x 30m sprints with a 20m run up (Flies)

another good training session. Chris recommended that i do the NOSH on Sunday, im still not sure though...

Note

got back science and english results 2day, 34/40 4 science and 29/30 4 english (similar project 2 Chris's)

Orienteering race 25:02 [3] ** 4.4 km (5:41 / km)
spiked:7/7c

Metro League Final and Sydney Schools Series 1.

really easy navigation, dead flat and also quite short. but the good thing was that it wasnt raining 4 the 1st time in 4 or 5 days. there was water everywhere, as all the creeks were flooding. at control 5, we were supposed 2 cross a major road by J walking as the underpass was flooded, but i took the underpass anyway (Huon did as well, but Chris chickened out). i think it was much faster.

Running Training 1:50:00 [5]

an "easy" session after the weekend. it was different from last week in multiple ways. it included:

2 laps of the oval
200m of throwing the 3kg medicine ball over your head
200m of throwing the 3kg medicine ball over your head and behind you
10 x 50m sprints whilst holding the 3kg medicine ball over your head
18 cones shuttle run - i got a PB of 2.02

then i did the circuit 6 times. it involved:
12 x curls
12 x unknown exercise (involved moving a bar up and down quickly)
12 x unknown exercise (involved bowing with the bar behind your head)
12 x weights (lifting a weight above your head)
2 x 20m sled (running with a sled tied 2 your back)
12 x hip flexes
12 x sit ups
12 x bridges (making an arch with your body)
36 x barrels
60 x reverse crunches (grrrrrrrrr...)
30 x unknown exercise (involved holding a ball between your knees and then twisting in a strange way)

after the circuit, i also did:

2 x 20m accelerator runs

that was a great "easy" session! i did a total of 360 reverse crunches, which is now my least favourite exercise (in fact i think it was after about 100 of them...)

Note
(rest day)

2day is a rest day because i have run 18km in the past 3 days. (i feel sorry 4 the senior boys - u ran that distance in 1 day !)

Orienteering race (ACT Long Distance Champs) 1:04:38 [4] **** 7.6 km (8:30 / km) +220m 7:26 / km
spiked:10/10c

longest official length course ive ever done. i think the length was picked up from the 2.5km first leg, the 1km 5th leg and the 1.5km 6th leg. really good run though, i actually managed 2 concentrate 4 the whole 8km!

Saturday May 16, 2009 #

Orienteering race (ACT Sprint Champs) 13:44 [5] ** 2.0 km (6:52 / km)
spiked:14/15c

really great run-although some how olle poland still got 2 minutes on me.

the only problem i had on this course is that i mistook 1 fence corner 4 another. it cost me about a minute max, which wouldn't quite get me up 2 olle.

Orienteering race (ACT Middle Distance Champ) 30:33 [5] *** 4.0 km (7:38 / km) +85m 6:54 / km
spiked:11/12c

Despite the warning that colour blind people may find it hard 2 read the map, i didnt have any problems with the map reading. i lost 2 minutes on the 1st control because i wasn't concentrating enough. i think i was distracted by the 3 or 4 people heading in the same direction. Olle got me by 5 minutes 2day, which i think is mainly running speed.

Friday May 15, 2009 #

Running race (Zone X Country) 15:00 [5] 4.0 km (3:45 / km) +30m 3:37 / km

had a good run. came 3rd, meaning im through 2 regionals. i think the 30 metre climb helped me. (i overtook about 8 people the 1st time we ran up that hill)

Thursday May 14, 2009 #

Note
(rest day)

I didn't attend soccer training 2day as i have zone x country 2morrow and then there is NOL and the ACT champs on the weekend

Soccer (Game) 50:00 [4]

Best game of the season so far. we had a 1-0 loss, but the goal scored was off a corner that my team believes should have been a goal kick. Really good game otherwise, we almost got a goal on a few occasions.

Tuesday May 12, 2009 #

Running Training 1:30:00 [5]

training with Chris Fuller again-same as last week

i got 2.04 for the 18 cones, 1 second off my PB of 2.03

the 4 kilo medicine ball died 2day. a seam broke and now about half the stuffing is all over the oval we were training on. i used the 3 kilo one as it was heavier at the time.

Note

had NAPLAN literacy and writing tests 2day. not fun. also had the science half yearly 2 make the day worse. oh well, we missed out on almost all of maths and geography.

i think the science test was 2 easy. i studied 4 ages and almost all of the detail was not included in the test at all! i think that the hardest question went something along the lines of, Find and draw the image created in the shown diagram. it involved focus points of lenses, which i think is easy if u understand it.

Running race 2:32 [5] 0.8 km (3:10 / km)

800m, first event of the athletics carnival that i participated in. my time was 2.32.15 i got 1st in my age group which means i got 2 zone!!!! 4 more school merit points 4 me.

Running race 5:22 [5] 1.5 km (3:35 / km)

second race, 1500m. My time was 5.22.35. got 4th overall, (it was under 15s, including people from 12 to 14), but out of my age class i got 2nd. that means i got 2 zone 4 that as well!!

Running race 1:10 [5] 0.4 km (2:55 / km)

third race, 400m. i came about 5th in my race, and that was apparantly a slow heat! i dont know my exact time as i didn't place in the top 3, but i think it was about 1.10

Running race 15 [5] 0.1 km (2:30 / km)

seemed a bit strange at the time, but i was selected for the 4 x 100m house relay!!!!!! i think the reason 4 this is that no one else in our house wanted 2 fill the spot. our house came last in all 5 age groups, because we do not have enough sprinters. (1 guy competed in 3 different age groups!) dont know my time as only the teams time is recorded

Sunday May 10, 2009 #

Note

training day 2day 4 the falcon O people, all technical work and teaching them what 2 do. eg map folding, distance estimation and bearings

Saturday May 9, 2009 #

Note

Didn't have a soccer game 2day as i was attending a course so that i can be a soccer referee for KDSA.

Friday May 8, 2009 #

Note
(rest day)

Friday is rest day after cross country yesterday.

Thursday May 7, 2009 #

Soccer 1:00:00 [3]

lots of people were late today, stopped a good 15-20 minutes of training. i didn't train to hard as i was already drained from the X country

Running race (school X country) 17:00 [5] 4.5 km (3:47 / km)

three laps of st leonards park, at about 1.5 km a lap. i wasn't sure on how long i took as i didn't time myself and there was no official time. i think it was about 15-20 minutes though. top 8 go to zone, i got 1st

Note

think i am getting a cold - not good

Wednesday May 6, 2009 #

Soccer 1:20:00 [3]

informal soccer training session as the usual game was cancelled. this was because the other team forfeited.

Tuesday May 5, 2009 #

Running Training 1:30:00 [5]

Same as last week, except the intervals were extended to 50m with a 20m run up.

i got 2 minutes 6 seconds for the eighteen cones, three seconds off my PB of 2:03

Sunday May 3, 2009 #

Orienteering race (State League) 47:11 [5] *** 6.7 km (7:03 / km) +215m 6:04 / km
spiked:10/10c

Really good day for me, with no errors costing me more than 10 seconds. it was also nsw schools champs today, so i was representing nsbhs. as a school we got 15 points (6 from me, 5 from Chris and 4 from Huon). that wasn't good enough to win as Knox entered about ten people who all got points totaling up to 19.

Olle Poland beat me by only 5 minutes, so i am getting quicker!

Saturday May 2, 2009 #

Soccer (Game) 25:00 [4]

Played first half of soccer game, couldn't play both as i had to get to State League 4. when i left at half time we were down 2-0.

Orienteering race (State League) 52:51 [5] **** 3.5 km (15:06 / km) +105m 13:08 / km
spiked:14/17c

I think i did really well, it was on the map Wattle Ridge at Hilltop. really annoying map, easy to lose map contact. aside from my mess up on control 3, i did well. SLOW running as the bush was thick, it was too easy to get lost and difficult to relocate. couldn't compare splits however as the machine map them illegible.
