Alpine Ski Touring race 1:10:00 [4]
First time ever on alpine touring skis... why not start with a race!!! Participated in the Mont Tremblant Alpine Touring festival. Frenchie and I got a crash course on how to use alpine touring skis about an hour before the race. Then we were off for the 2 hour race. We decided to do the race together, if for no other reason than to try and share the burden of trying to remember all of the steps to go from skins to downhill and then back to skins again (was more complicated than I thought it would be).
Alpine Ski Touring 2:30:00 [3]
"Montee de Nuit" group night climb with Frenchie up to the top of Mont Tremblant as part of the alpine touring festival. We left in waves and taking a few different routes and ended up with just over 200 people trying to cram into the little chalet at the top of Mont Tremblant. Was a tight but very cool atmosphere. The descent from the top was really cool as there was a heavy fog and high winds with some snow, so visibility was very low. But with large groups of skiers heading down the mountain, it was awesome to see the headlamps breaking through the fog as they approached when we would stop to regroup on our way down. At the bottom we were treated to a fondue dinner (cheese, bread, sausage, veggies, etc,) and a presentation from a famous local guy who does epic ski touring around the world. A great night!
