Note
(rest day)

Massage and shopping in Nice. Nice is a dive.

Friday Oct 29, 2010 #

Note

I was having a root around my shins, trying to find pain. None. Plus they feel really different to how they felt 4 weeks ago, ie no soreness and fragility detected. Noice! I'll still wait 2 more weeks until running.
French sprint champs this weekend. I really wish i could run as i was lucky enough to qualify from winning the district champs. But even if i ran now i'd have shite fitness and speed, so no point. I'm going to try and map Antibes this weekend into ISSOM.

Road biking 38:00 [2] 15.0 km (2:32 / km)
shoes: Specialised

I rode around the Cap D'Antibes, fairly relaxing with the views and breeze. Legs were feeling yesterdays exercise, nice.

Powerwalking 56:10 [3] *** 8.5 km (6:36 / km)
shoes: Icebug

I powerwalked the local O race. I even won the race.. This was fairly tiring but thankfully my legs got some good workout into them finally. The course was actually 6.5km i think. I measured my heart rate at 170something at one point. It was pretty funny passing people as i was crouched down taking large steps. And a bit embarressing coming into the finish. Still i'm not sure anyone beat my finish split. Fredrik Lovegren is a legend.

Today is the halfway point of my 6 weeks of rest. We were originally going to rest for 3 weeks then test and rest 3 more if needed. But i told him it would take about 2 weeks for signs to show. Probably would take more to be honest. So we just said 6 weeks rest to be safe.
I'm feeling lots of issues with my hips and glutes ever since the osteopath recorrected me. It felt great for a few days and then it all tightens up after. But it took longer the second visit to tighten up so there is hope that i wouldn't need to be seen every bloody week. Osteopathy and massage might be the only way i can get above 5-6 hours of running per week. My body has never being made to handle the roughness of running. You get away with alot of things for a few months of hard training and then it catches up with you. Unless you train like an M16 4-5 hours a week (me in 2010). Then you're fine, because you're not really training.

Note
(sick) (rest day)

Returning home from Ireland. Brought my bike. My throat was getting worse because of the drinking. Coughing alot.

Road biking 28:00 [3]
shoes: Specialised

Left my watch at home.
Last night was Chris (my Auzzie biking partner) and Liz's (my best friends sister) wedding in Enniskerry. I was still drunk at 11am. Coming downhill will literally stupid for me.. I actually didn't do the cycle with them, i turned arond at 25mins because my throat was sore and i didn't want to get sick (of course this was like 10% of the reason) and also i knew i'd never make it to Roundwood and back because i didn't get up in time for breakfast. I think drink had something to do with that. Still, i got on the bike. One of only four people that morning while the rest of the wedding people went for a hungover breakfast in the village.
Naturally i joined them. It was downhill almost all the way home. I feel i was fractionally harder than them. Like it matters. What a cracking wedding!

Road 1:30 [3]
(sick)

I ran from the gate in Dublin airport to baggage reclaim. My god have i lost fitness!!
Just my cough left from the sickness.

Thursday Oct 14, 2010 #

Note
(sick)

All the aches and pains are gone but last night my throat was getting bad while i was going to bed.

Note

My leg muscles are like well tendored entrecotes ready for being cooked rare. This mush sucks! I'm back home this weekend for a wedding and i'm definately bringing my road bike back to France. Screw swimming and that crap. I'm loosing fitness fast here. Throat is getting better during the day today. Feeling close to 100%.

Two weeks off running down, four more to go :(

Wednesday Oct 13, 2010 #

Note
(sick)

Alot better today. Not good enough for training.

Tuesday Oct 12, 2010 #

Note
(sick)

I'm sick today. My god damn leg muscles are very loose. I'm now fairly afraid of how long it's going to take to get to a good training level this winter. I think i'm going to disregard the Osteopaths advice to not cycle because i can't hack swimming 6 days a week. Better to keep fit and pay him to fix me once or twice. Maybe a massage and strength training to address the weak hips n glutes. But i'm just worried now about how much little trianing i've done since after my training break after Trondheim.

Feck.

Sunday Oct 10, 2010 #

Note

Crazy day trying to get myself back to Nice from Barcelona. I think my french phone got pick pocketed last night. Better that than my wallet.

Saturday Oct 9, 2010 #

Swimming 5:00 [3]

This was hilarious. The waves were strong in Barcelona. I went in just faffing around thinking i could do 20 mins. I could hardly make it back to the beach once i went out a few meters. I'm not a strong swimmer. My head was spinning for a while after.

Friday Oct 8, 2010 #

Note

Today and tomorrow is a rare occasion when i'll find it impossible to train. I'm going to a stag party in Barcelona and return back to Antibes on Sunday morning. I can only swim. And i'm with guys drinking. It's going to be difficult to do exercise.

Note
(rest day)

Saw the osteopath last night. Two days rest now to let his changes settle. Rest for 6 weeks and then return to running. I'm going to try my hand at swimming and maybe summer skiing to keep some cardiovascular fitness. For the muscles i'll have to do strength work. I hate the gym!

Note

I guess it's been one week already without running. Five more to go until i can test. The shit thing is that it takes about two weeks for signs of pain. So i won't know if i'm in the clear until after new year.

Note

I couldn't get my morning walk on because of problems with parking. I took the bus up to the WC race to spectate. I did however walk for 10mins in the area of the last loop with Ivans race map. Until i was spotted by a tv camera and had to piss it out of there. Then i had to take the cnoc relay team to the airport after they all abandoned the race at the spectator due to the course being too technical for them. So i wasn't going to return just to walk the 4km model which i can do some other time. What a waste of a day.

Saturday Oct 2, 2010 #

Note

I did two 50-60min walking sessions on Le Revard which is right beside the WOC terrain. Then i watched the orient show and then walked the night sprint race.

Friday Oct 1, 2010 #

Note

Did one 2h session on the map south of the WC terrain up near the top of the mountain. And then a second 1h session on Montange le Bange.
