IOC relay champs, the GEN team came 4th. Christian Foley Fisher took first leg for us and came back 1m54s behind Shane Lynch on the first leg for Corko. Then our up and coming talent Jonathan Quin ( M14! ) went out with the aim to keep it safe and steady and he did just that. I'm very happy with his run. Then i went out with cnoc2 and nwoc up ahead. I never saw or registered passing the nwoc team. Hugh missed in the first technical part and i never saw him again. My legs were heavy and slow, like everyone really. I didn't make any mistakes and the navigation was fairly easy. It was a course for Curragh specialists. Seconds were precious, just like sprintO. I saw Gerard Butler twice, i maybe hoped something crazy would happen that i'd get some sort of a chance but of course he was way too far ahead and it was too hard to gain on him or anyone up ahead unless they fecked up badly.
Next year we'll have two Quins, Christian and myself to choose from. So it's nice to know the pool is growing. Maybe train Jonathan as a first leg runner?.. I think he's first leg specialist material with his performance today.
My legs feel nice (not fatigued like i've cried about before) and the calf muscles (soleus) aren't sore. Which is odd. Now i don't know what to do because i was expecting to be in lots of pain now and would just cycle for a month or two. Now i might do half running half cycling. I don't know!
