Swim race 1:01:12 [4] 3.8 km (16:06 / km)

Subaru Ironman Canada Swim Course
Beautiful 1 Loop swim course in Lake Okanagan. Water temp was 66F although it felt warmer probably b/c the air temp was 45F. My new Timex GPS watch did not pick up satellites so I got off to a bad start. Should've started it earlier or planned better. Also..another screw up, bought new tinted goggles for the swim b/c of the sun at this time in the morning and of course, race morning it was cloudy, ...and the left goggle leaked a lot. So I had to stop numerous times to clear the left goggle. Frig.
Managed to get a good pace going and enjoyed the swim, if not for the mishaps, I would've been sub 1hr. Overall Good swim time for me.

Ride race 5:28:11 [4] 180.0 km (1:49 / km)

Subaru Ironman Canada Bike Course
Started on the Bike feeling good after the swim, headed through town and South along Skaha Lake to McLean Creek Rd, where the 1st climb was. Rode through beautiful scenic views and nice roads. Along the highway through all the wineries to Osoyoos. The 1st 60km were a tail wind and I was avg''ing about 37km/hr. Then the Richter Pass climb which was about 11km steady up. The view was amazing and the temp was perfect. Lots of people cheering. Then we had a 6km decent with speed over 70km/hr. Then in the valley and over 8 big rolling hills with a headwind and some noticeable smoke in the air from forest fires. Just before the out & back was a steady headwind. I had to take a leak and there was no where to go except for at the special needs which was at 120km. At 140-150km was the climb up to Yellow Lake. There was huge black clouds and the temp was dropping drastically. The rain started while climbing, lots of people cheering, then the hail started and the wind was crazy as well. I got super cold, it was around 5C at this point. Once I got to the top of Yellow Lake then the last 30km is all down. However, with the rain, a sharp switchback decent and barely able to control my bike b/c I was so cold, I had to ease back on the bike. I almost had to pull over to try to warm up, would've never thought I'd even think of this. This was the scariest road ride I've ever done (the last 30km) Frig. Once in the valley and back into town it warmed up back to about 20C. Got off the bike and was ready for the run (well T2 was interesting b/c I was still cold and it was hard getting the compression socks on for the run).

Run race 3:48:19 [5] 42.2 km (5:25 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Inspire 6

Subaru Ironman Canada Run Course
Started the run and saw Andrea cheering which was amazing. Headed out through town and along Shaka Lake, past our accommodations and then past the great signs Andrea made for me. Got to 10km in 50min so slowed down a bit from there. At the turn at Okanagan Falls in 1:52 and tried to keep a steady pace on the way back. I was about 3-4 mins slower for the way back so that was ok. Overall felt great on the run, managed to fuel well and get er done.
