| I stayed in Gaborone today, finally getting a chance to sleep in, and to have a relatively uneventful weekend. This last week seemed a lot tougher then the previous one, as more of our patients were very sick, and two of them had died. Unfortunately, this was also the last week for my resident Gbami in Botswana. She has really been great, and she will be dearly missed by many people in the hospital. Thanks to her I had a very smooth transition to doing medicine at Princess Marina, from seeing patients, to doing procedures, to maneuvering through the insanely complicated and paperwork-laden hospital system. I'll have to see if the department will replace her with someone else, otherwise, it may be a pretty scary time for our service--it may just be me and the intern taking care of some 20+ patients, some of whom are as ill as anyone who I've ever seen.
On Friday a bunch of us had a goodbye party for Gbami. Among the pictures is also a photo of a street vendor that I came across today.
