Very physical but boring. The planning was very poor and given the quality of the map this was really a wasted opportunity. Why for example was there a 550m run in from the last control through a perfectly good technical area when they could easily have added a control there? No technical challenge. In fact not really an orienteering course at all.

Felt sluggish and tired especially towards the end. Definitely not hydrated enough given the fine weather and an earlier night probably would have helped as well.

10 minute warm up before start. Knee was a bit niggly before start but I didn't notice anything once I started so may have been due to warming up on a concrete track.

Conditions underfoot were very wet and mucky in places.

Notes: The area is slow but doesn't require gaiters. Map appears to be accurate apart from the odd variations in classification.

Weather: Dry, bright and sunny, 12 C, light wind. O-gear. Single top.
