Orienteering race 48:50 [4] 9.28 km (5:16 / km) +81m 5:03 / km
25c shoes: Inov8 X-Talon (Yellow)

Muckross Abbey

Leg definitely feeling better today but not 100%. Was mostly ok running apart from sometimes on the roads it could be felt. No way was it hurting like it did yesterday. Controlled pace for this, didn't push 100%. Also achilles not perfect either.

Straightforward course on an area I run around a lot, so with a map in my hand it wasn't that difficult.

16 and 17 I lost a few seconds on, 16 just getting through some crap, but did miss 17. Definitely ended up too far and looks like I was too low for it when I cut across.

Took the right option to 19 as I felt the grass would be easier to run on than the rough path, local knowledge, and didn't fancy straight due to previous experiences in that area.

Leaving 21 I was initially skipping 22 for some reason, didn't see it, but copped myself on and picked up the control easily enough.

Not convinced 23 was in the right place. Went over to the other side of the wall, no control, dropped down along it, no sign, then turned around and saw it behind me under a bit of rock. Think it was very low and on the wrong side based on the descriptions. Although since descriptions said north side, that could have meant the lake.

Hit 25 at the same time as some lad in a KerryO top and shorts, but left him run off to the finish, I didn't need to race it.

Short jog to warm down. Makes up for not warming up I’m sure.
