ahr:169 max:177 22c slept:7.0

IOC, Relays
Glendoo Ridge

Ran 1st leg for CorkOs' 1st team. Happy to have been picked for this leg and this team. Not happy to screw my teams chances by blowing the 1st control!!! Lost a few minutes here, fell in the same hole twice.

It was trying to catch-up for the rest of the race which I did alright at. A few misses in the rest of the course but small ones. HR shows that body could have given more, but if I was at the front I reckon I could have challenged.

Team ended up 3rd but that was down to good runs from Bill and Magic.

So another bad race at IOC 2011.

Note

To sum up IOC 2011 it was a bad weekend. I could have accepted yesterdays disaster if the middle result stood. Overall it was a weekend to forget, so i've to move on and focus on the Lake Distict races in 3 weeks.

I'll take being this pissed off as being a positive.

I'd also like to pass on my congratulations to Saturday's Planner and Controller and fair play to ye on accepting a momento from the organisers for a job well done.

Brockagh

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
That about sums up this race and how I felt afterwards. All went well until control 12 which was a complete and utter disaster. Very very pissed off about the whole thing. Definitely an unfair control since it was so close to the edge of the map but i'm looking for excuses. Tried to push things a bit after this but started to die after 19, cramp, and had to stop on the hill after 25 with more cramps. Could barely change out of my clothes afterwards legs were tending towards cramp so much. A race I want to forget in a hurry.

A mistake I never want to make again.

IOC 2011, Middle Distance
Glendoo Ridge - East

Tried hard in this race, first part went ok, found the heather a bit tough, but pushed through it. Lost time at 17 and 20, missed them badly, so lost a couple of minutes there. When I finished I was pissed off with this as I knew any time lost would count.

Went back to download and turned out I had the fastest time so far, and as the afternoon wore on everyone else that downloaded had a slower time, including Magic! That was until Bill Edwards downloaded, probably one of the last elites to do so, and he beat me by about 2mins. So from being pissed off with the race I was 2nd in an IOC race.

There was some talk afterwards about the map at Control 3 but I had no issue with it. Control was the same for everyone. A complaint was made and the jury decided in the end to void the leg. I saw the results next morning before classic race and went on them from 2nd to 4th. To say I was pissed off about this would be an understatement, not a way to start an IOC classic.

I had the 2nd fastest time for the 21 controls on the course. It was a 21 control race in my mind.

Travelling to Wicklow this evening, after work. IOC starts tomorrow. Since it's Irish Champs I suppose my only goal has to be give it everything in all races. And a secondary goal of sorts would be to make the CorkO 1st team for the relays but hopefully my main goal will ensure that.

Just some easy cycling this evening, and read for the half hour. Legs are feeling a bit sore in places this evening, sore muscles after circuits. Should be ok after I stretch them tonight and tomorrow. Not sure how well the legs have recovered after last weekend, I suppose the start line on Saturday will tell a lot. Rest between now and then anyway.

Circuits warm up/down 6:52 [2] 1.1 km (6:15 / km)
ahr:137 max:172 slept:8.0 shoes: Mizuno Waverider 13

Warm-up for outdoor circuits. Lovely evening so we were outside. Did a small bit of loosening up to start and then 5mins of running. Noce and handy for most of the 5 but trainer put on a bit of a spurt for last 30 so I couldn't let him get away with that...
Hamstrings were complaining a bit then!

Circuits 35:00 [3] 1.3 km (26:55 / km)
ahr:152 max:177 shoes: Mizuno Waverider 13

3 circuits

1st and 2nd circuits was 45 seconds at each station and 3rd was 30 seconds. No recovery between 2nd and 3rd circuits.

Different exercises again mixed with some familiar ones.

Had GPS on for the sesson, did some laps as 1 circuit but doubt I covered 1.3km.

Circuits 6:00 [1]
ahr:118 max:157 shoes: Mizuno Waverider 13

Some stretching to finish off with.
9 PM

Note

I need to get to bed soon, sleep is a must before the weekend.

Had physio yesterday and that didn't go too badly, nothing really of note to talk about or in trouble. Legs weren't too tired this evening at circuits, so cycling on the agenda tomorrow, for how long and whether indoors or out hasn't been decided.
So roll on the weekend, have to pack for it tomorrow night, this week is flying.

Did pick up some cycling equipment in Decathlon Belfast, so can do some cleaning of the gears and chain with that. Also got a SKY bottle and cage.
