Trails/Road 34:48 [3] 6.72 km (5:11 / km) +55m 4:58 / km
shoes: Spiuk ZS11

Drove down to do my usual 9k loop after getting back from London. Some rain about but not too heavy while running. That was important since I walked the last couple of km back to the car after calf gave up.

Legs generally feeling perfect, apart from some issues before achilles warmed up, after that they felt comfortable. Pace not too fast, but faster than last 2 runs.

Then after about 5km on the road back from Torc the left calf essentially spasmed I reckon, up high in the muscle. So tried jogging for a few more km but eventually got to a point where that hurt too much. As I said walked back to the car feeling very depressed.

At least Mary had dinner ready when I got some, she misheard the time I said i'd be home which worked out to my benefit. Ate while icing the calf.

Note
(rest day)

Walking from hotel to Twickenham, just the bits between the DLR/Bus/Ungerground/Train. Then walked over and back to The Stoop, went to a Harlequins pre-season game against the Jersey Reds.

Note
(rest day)

Strolled around some of Greenwich, and up to the Observatory, while avoiding some heavy showers.

Didn't get home too late from the wedding celebrations.

Note
(rest day)

Off to London after work so no training for me today. Start of a few days rest. Didn't pack running shoes for the trip, will hang on until Sunday evening to get back into the last proper week of training.

Legs starting to feel better again, less calf and achilles, so no running will help that.

Cycling 1:03:37 [3] 31.92 km (2:00 / km) +355m 1:53 / km
shoes: Spiuk ZS11

Got out this evening so good start. Dull day but stayed dry. Didn't need to wear a jacket but some drops of rain going on the drive home from work.

Not too happy with the time for the climb. Some wind about so not sure if that's to blame or just the tiredness in my legs.

Got a good amount of training done in the last week. Pity most of it was on the bike but better than nothing. Race pack arrived yesterday for Dingle so getting very close now.

Taking a break now for the weekend as I'm in London. Earned it.

Wore running tights! Concealing the support on my calf and also the Nike pro underwear that I decided would help with my quads which are tired. Was a humid evening so made it even worse for myself.

Kept the pace slow in order to give the legs a chance. Left calf was ok but left Achilles I could feel, just feel, not pain.

Legs ok afterwards so should get the rest of the grass cut later.

Note

Left calf definitely didn't feel great after going for a run last night. Did a good bit of self harm to it though while watching others run. Not sure what I'm going to do this week after all the athletics for the last week. Calf feeling better this morning, can't feel it walking, so a small bit positive.

Did think my legs would be tired as they felt it at work, but they actually managed to pedal the bike alright this evening, despite a bit of a headwind on the way out.

Saw a bad looking crash driving home from work, motorbike and a car just outside Killarney, people helping rider on the ground, and ambulance hadn't arrived yet. Bike was stuck in the front of the car, can't have been good.

I can be thankful that the only bad luck on my spin this evening was to get stung by a bee or wasp in Fossa. Hurt a bit, pain eased after maybe 10 minutes. Had thought it might be an excuse to stay on the couch for the evening but felt the need to still cut some of the grass after dinner.

New watch strap arrived too so less hassle with getting watch to download for tomorrow's run.
