Ed Duggan Remembrance Spin

Slow spin from Killarney to Fieries via Scart Cross. Big mixed group. Although ended up with a hard workout for a bit as some Killorglin lads joined the spin at the Reeks. Derry left 1 glove behind, so we turned around before 2 mile school and went back for it. Thought it would be an easy catch, it wasn't! They got a lot further than I thought they would.

After a few minutes at the White Bike it was on to the graveyard beyond Fieries, mostly downhill/flat so took a while to warm up.

After stopping there I decided to make my own way home rather than go for tea so back to Killarney with company. Took a detour around by Mill Road to get home in order to avoid the traffic lights.

Colder on the bike than temperature on the garmin would suggest, nice in the sun, but there was a good bit of wind chill.

Glad I made it out as thought I mightn't as had a bad enough pain in my stomach overnight. May have been down to all the crap I ate when I got back from Cork, so probably my own fault.

Decided to try running for a change. Also pre breakfast. Looking out the window when I woke up it looked miserable but was only damp when I got running rather than wet.

Around a minute in I realised that taping ankles would have been a sensible decision. As a result of not taping the left ankle was weak. Tracks were muddy and wet.

Sort of enjoyed the run as legs didn’t complain too much.

Some branches down in the 3rd km.

Realised before I got started when pumping the tyres that Bike wasn’t set up properly on the turbo. The resistance wheel wasn’t set against the rear wheel properly. No wonder I’d found the turbo easy!

As a result I did find this tough.

Not a session I particularly enjoyed, tired I think from yesterday and then tooth started hurting again which i've been ignoring. Only a few times it's annoyed my since last weekend so decided against the dentist. But acted up in time for circuits. Did try a bit harder on the 3rd circuit.

Calf still recovering from Tuesday but not an issue for the session.

Unplanned rest day.

Left Tralee at 2.30, in Dublin (Monkstown) for a removal at 6.30, and then back in Killarney for around 11.45 with a stop for dinner.
I didn't have to drive.

Left calf definitely tender after yesterday but probably not as bad as last week.

More fun!!!

Calf still struggling. First part of the session was ok, some issues with the achilles hurting, but got through it.

Dry needling was then suggested again so I accepted the offer.

This week it hurt a lot more when being done. Which i'm told is a good thing, more reaction from the calf. Wasn't pleasant.

And then was unable to walk when I got out of the car in Killarney! Painter has finished the sitting room but no way was I in a position to move stuff back in.

Body can feel that it did something yesterday. I think that the left calf came through mostly unscathed but hard to know exactly as left ankle is definitely sore. It's not swollen I think but sore.

Avg Cadence = 90rpm

Nearly ended up doing nothing but got on the bike for a short spin indoors. House a bit out of kilter as painters in doing a few bits so things out of place.

Legs tired after yesterday. Quads noticeable too, tired muscles. Hard to tell how the Achilles is with sore ankle. Reckon at this stage I will take up my physio appointment tomorrow.
