(rest day)

Giving the body a rest today. Could have done something this morning but it’s going to be an exciting few days so no harm in having some energy for that.

Will watch the London Marathon instead.
40,000 people will take 40 minutes to start...

Sun out, stunning day, but was definitely chilly on the bike starting out. I suppose it is April so takes longer to warm up.

Bit of a battle between my head and my legs early on. Legs were saying they were tired, with my head agreeing, so needed to be distracted like by passing bikes to get over it.

Passed 2 on the way up, and plenty more were coming down. It helped the legs. Also felt like a headwind, not so much a problem climbing but noticeable along by the lake.

A group of cyclists at Molls Gap but I started my descent before most of them. I pushed a bit as a result, so was moving fast, and with the tail wind back along the lake it was a good start. Also went well on the 1st half of the descent but a muppet in a jeep pulled out in front of the car in front of me at Derrycunnihy. He caused problems by using his brakes.

So lower for the 2nd part. Then on the rolly bit the guy in the jeep decided to pull over so everyone on the brakes, and since it was on a short uphill I was in the wrong gear to get back moving again.

Happy enough overall to get this done. Not sure if I'll train tomorrow or not. This was the 1st part of a 'duathlon' as once off the bike it was on with the old runners to cut the grass for a couple of hou

Other Dublin logs are talking about the weather, and the weather forecast is focused on Dublin, they’ll be glad to know the sun is shining outside of Dublin too.

Conference finished early so got running a bit earlier than usual.

Plenty of people in the national park.

Achilles behaved better today than Tuesday so that’s a positive. Think pace at the start was about ok but some faster kilometres by the end, not intentionally, and that was when the legs were starting to feel tired.

Had a cycle route in mind for the morning but think sketchy phone coverage in the Gap of Dunloe/Black Valley, along with the distance from home means an alternative route would be sensible.

Plan was to run but switched to the bike after spending the afternoon walking around Tralee Achilles wasn't feeling 100%, so didn't want to push it. Will run tomorrow instead.

Lovely evening. Sun out and blue skies. Also warm too. Cycling tights may no longer be needed, which is good, as legs are looking pale at the moment, need to get some colour on them.

Plenty of bikes out on the road this evening. Passed 4 on the way up, 2+1+1, the last 1 being just at the top, passed him and another chap just before I turned off the main road on the way home. Definitely making better time than him. His companion wasn't waiting at the top so they must have been going on for Molls Gap. Also passed a few more bikes coming up on the way down.

I think with the good weather and the few bikes on the road I put more effort in this evening. Legs did feel a bit tired at times on the climb but nothing too bad. Time for Ladies View was approx. 20 seconds faster than last effort.

Also had a clear run of the descent, with what I think was a tail wind, so a few PRs coming down.

Good spin.

Weather rubbish so indoors again. Not complaining too much, enjoying Narcos.

Last day in the office for maybe a week. IPI conference tomorrow and Friday, don’t have to go too far for it, Tralee. Looking forward to getting the 3 pens in the goodie bag. Not quite the Oscars, or even the IFTAs, in terms of goodie bags, but at least there’s some skellig chocolates in the bag too.

Knockreer

Small bit of wind but can’t say it affected the run. Also had dried up today after last night. Park was wet though. Water near the bridge and then in the trees either side of the road as I headed for around by the lake. Then got stopped by water on the road, flooded. Tried the bridle path then but it was pure muck and didn’t fancy it in my runners.

As it turned out this distance was alright. Going around might have been too long for the iffy Achilles.

Bridge at the playground still blocked so back home via st Margaret’s road.
