Knockreer

Fella and a dog in front of me when I hit the Fossa Way, dog was pulling him away from me, and let them go, and caught up with them as he stopped to walk before the hill. I started up the hill and he came by again but this time I was having none of it so powered on to the top, improved my Strava PR for the hill as a result.

Legs not feeling too bad this evening once Achilles warmed up. Stuck to the grass to side where I could but ground is hard these days.

Lots of colour around Killarney House, the gardens are coming on.

Dangerous this running lark, gives you time to think, and bad thoughts this evening. Robrunner partly to blame as he’s wondering about a spin on Sunday. Looked into what’s on and remembered this evening while running that there’s a Saturday option this weekend......The Iveragh 200......would I dare. Got a few days to talk myself out of it.

Note

Back to normality this week, of sorts.

Monday - Bike
Tuesday - Run
Wednesday - Bike
Thursday - Rest (off to Killarney Races, horse kind)
Friday - Run
Saturday - Bike
Sunday - Bike

Not sure what the plan for the weekend will be bike wise, wouldn't mind a race if there's one on, or failing that a sportive, we'll see how things work out.

Didn't realise it was that windy until I felt a gust hit me on the way down the hill to the main road. So was a bit more careful from then on. But no other gusts of note.

Was a westerly so more of a cross wind for this spin. Don't think it affected me too much. Took a while to get HR up on the climb, slightly back on what i'd like.

Had a clear run at the descent too.

Happy enough with how I was feeling but wind maybe had more of an impact than I expected.

Waited for the rain to clear. Yes, rain, can’t remember the last time it rained. Humid too. But helped dry the roads.

Got the wind wrong, expected for some reason a tailwind to get me home but was the other way around. So should have used it more on the way out.

Bit of traffic about so that slowed me in places getting through town both ways.

(rest day)

Home from Cornwall today.

Went to Newquay Zoo to pass the morning. Erik slept for a good bit of it, including when the penguins and meerkats were getting fed, unlike him to miss a feed.

Constantine Bay - Harlyn Bay

Drove a bit further up the coast to start where i turned yesterday. Another lovely morning for a run.

And found somewhere to park without having to pay, unusual for this part of the world!

Legs feeling ok for a 2nd day on my feet running. Achilles alright once warmed up.

Passed a nice lighthouse and then a small bit later saw what looked like a huge pipe coming out of the cliff, when I got to the beach and looked back it was actually a lifeboat launch ramp.

Bit of beach running in places, soft sand on the first beach, hard on the 2nd, and uneven/wet on the last.

Also realised that pushing a buggy does nothing for my step goal for the day. Garmin isn’t moving when I hold the bar on the buggy so doesn’t think I’m waking.

More of the southwest coastal path.
Drove up the coast to the next village and parked there.

Don’t think it was as hilly as the two other runs this week which was nice. Think a bit of a headwind on the way out.

Again nice coast. Stopped and turned at the beach at Constantine Bay.

Achilles definitely sore until it warmed up. Other than that the legs feeling ok and the shorter hills were easier. Not sure about tomorrow, Achilles might need rest, but I’ll be back to the bike come Sunday.

Note
(rest day)

Achilles I could feel this morning after getting out of the car but not so much after that.

Not convinced by Apple Maps (car play in the car so easier to use than google). Brought me down a very narrow lane. That being said google would have done the same.

Football is supposedly coming home but not that many houses with flags out.
