Recovering from Erik's Christening BBQ, I behaved myself during the BBQ but there were 3 leftover burgers and 2 sausages so had them for dinner. Stomach was very full as a result. All in the name of minimising waste!

Humid morning. Wasn't sure if I felt like doing anything but in the end put on my running shoes. Happy with that decision. Legs not feeling too bad. So also pleased with that.

Muckross was very busy, but probably peak weekend for visitors with the August Bank Holiday.

Note
(rest day)

Peace and quiet after a busy day.

Erik’s christening.
Good day.

Think there are a few burgers left, that’ll do for dinner...

Out before breakfast on the bike before today’s cleaning starts.

Legs really not in the mood. They were not co-operating at all. Thought they’d improved for the climb but time says differently. Overall time maybe 4 minutes off previous attempts so definitely a bad day.

Road probably quieter at this hour than in the evening.

Note
(rest day)

A lot of garden work in the morning and food shopping after lunch.

Start of the 2 day pre-christening clean!

Note
(rest day)

Moving a BBQ after work so no time to train. A bit on the tired side anyways after work. No harm in some rest.

Bolus Head looped walk
Advertised as 9km! I suppose this being shorter makes up for the Donegal loop in March being longer.

Down in south Kerry for some work and thought this would work up an appetite for lunch. Hillier than I expected.

Some road to start off then over a stile and onto grass and paths for the loop around the head. Climb started shortly afterwards and didn’t let up until the barracks at the top.

Had done my research so knew there was a Strava segment, went hard for that on what was a steep ramp, HR went places it has been to very rarely this year. After that I stopped and wandered around the Barracks before descending. Some road again back to the car.

Note

Small bit tired this morning, legs, so maybe a bit of DOMS from Saturday, nothing too bad though.

Got a bank holiday weekend to look forward to and Erik's christening is on Saturday. Will probably take Thursday and Friday off to do some tidying up at home. As a result not sure what training i'll get done, if any those days, hopefully something. Will see what the story is on Sunday once Saturday is out of the way, bike probably.

Usual route but Beaufort part in reverse. Pushed for the KOM up from Beaufort Bridge, can do better so will try it again. Was out of breath after this short effort and took a bit to get back into the swing of things.

Roads wet in Beaufort but I avoided the rain.

Very cranky starting out on the bike. Spare back door key missing which annoyed me. Then traffic was slow getting through Killarney. Needed to tell myself to relax. Wasn’t happy feeling like this. At least I found the key when I got home, in the washing machine. Probably in there close to a week so a very clean key by now!

At least had the idea to run at lunch time tomorrow when I’m down in south kerry for the day. Hope to run somewhere new and on the hit list for a while.
