Road warm up/down 7:52 [3] 1.29 km (6:06 / km)
ahr:139 max:148 shoes: New Balance 890 v6

Bit worried about right calf rather than left at the moment. But feeling ok this morning.

Road tempo (Buggy) 19:54 [4] 4.88 km (4:04 / km)
ahr:171 max:186 shoes: New Balance 890 v6

4.06
4.15
4.03
4.06
3.52 (pace)

Stated on the line today rather than further back. Definitely a more sensible option. Had a few people come by me in the first lap but took a few of those places back on the 2nd and 3rd laps. Some of those definitely paid for a quick start.

Had 4.15 on the virtual partner. Got ahead of it on the first lap and then stuck to the pace for the 2nd kilometre. Had a target in front of me on the 2nd lap and then Seamus & Tony passed on the 2nd lap so tucked in behind them.

Turned the last corner with them not too far in front and with the legs feeling ok I took the decision to sprint! Gained on the lads but they increase their pace too. I didn’t force the issue so didn’t put more effort in. There was a chap gaining on me before the home straight so that kinda got me a bit motivated, not losing a place to him spurred me into sprinting.

Happy to break 20. Erik stayed away for today’s run. Probably had 1 too many layers on, was warm when I finished.

Road warm up/down 10:02 [3] 1.53 km (6:32 / km) +5m 6:26 / km
ahr:138 max:153 shoes: New Balance 890 v6

Told Erik I’d take him back to the car via the horses. Not that he understood but kept my promise. Easy warm down. Legs feeling ok with some tightness in the calves.

ahr:150 max:173 shoes: Spiuk ZS11

Thought it might stay dry but got a bit damp heading into town, dry on the far side. Roads were wet in Muckross when I got back so escaped what looked like a bit of rain.

Felt quite good on the bike and did put a bit of effort in, some of the higher HR spikes were passing out cars/horses. There are a few troughs too so the HR strap is certainly not 100% at the moment. Must get my hands on a new battery.

Not sure if i'll get out on the road bike again on an evening. Dusk was certainly setting in when I got home. It is only a few weeks off the hour changing too :-(

Trails/Road 45:22 [3] 9.0 km (5:02 / km) +75m 4:50 / km
ahr:153 max:154 shoes: New Balance 890 v6

Went to bag getting ready and realised I’d no HR strap which then resulted in a realisation that I’d no Garmin either! So back on with the Apple Watch. It decided to save during the run, should have locked the watch but not really used to training with it. At least I could check the time when I finished and know the route since I’ve done it more than once.

Calves a bit sore afterwards, more to do with distance than anything else. Nothing acute though. Pace steady throughout.

Dinis

When looking at the avg HR it looked a bit low to me but checking the graph it does tail off towards the end when effort certainly didn’t.

Cool evening but dry. Headwind for the most part around Dinis.

Legs feeling better today so they are recovering after the weekend.

Mary got Indian meals from M&S for dinner, a korma for herself and one called the “Hot One” for me. It’s not taken me this long to have my dinner in a long long time. It was exactly what its name implied.

Castleross & Knockreer

Don’t know why but head fried leaving work so needed some fresh air. And fresh air I got. Very heavy shower during my run but most of that time it was at my back. The 200m or so I had to run into the wind/rain was bitter.

Body tired after the weekend with both calves tight. This run was fine as kept a slow steady pace to keep pressure off and just get some exercise.
