Poulnaderka

Easy run before breakfast in the rain. Not too heavy. Bit different to yesterday afternoon.

Calf feeling ok. Didn’t push it.

Decided to see how long the loop in the middle of the woods was. Just under 1km but then added in an extension for a 2nd and 3rd lap before running to the other entrance again turning around and coming home.

Cycling 1:01:55 [3] 30.52 km (2:02 / km) +312m 1:56 / km
shoes: Spiuk ZS11

3 laps anti-clockwise

18.06 (5.51)
18.12 (5.57)
18.18 (6.00)

Not as humid as yesterday morning. Low cloud not burning off as fast as yesterday with less heat. No wind though :-)

Concerned that I wouldn't get the 3 laps done as wasn't sure if the back would hold up. It did, just about. Was sore towards the end but manageable. Also sleep hasn't been great.

On the 2nd lap after Poulnaderka I spotted a bike in front of me. Was trying to cycle more relaxed today but this didn't help. /increased my effort to chase him down. When I did pass him I gave plenty of distance and moved over a few metres back for safety. He's doing short laps.
4 PM

Walking 48:27 [2] 3.59 km (13:29 / km) +23m 13:05 / km
ahr:93 max:135

Usual loop

All of a sudden the cloud disappeared and it was a lovely sunny day.

Bit more consistent walking today, less stops.

Walking 50:29 [2] 3.55 km (14:13 / km) +23m 13:46 / km
ahr:83 max:125 (rest day)

Felt tired and not interested in training today. Maybe the humidity had an affect. But tiredness the main reason and not a bad idea to rest the back. Could feel it a small bit at times pushing the lawnmower.

Before that I was filling the wheelbarrow out the front with some earth and a neighbour started talking about how Covid-19 is all one big conspiracy theory!!! It might be but I doubt it.

Ordered a new HR strap yesterday and new running shoes. By waiting an extra couple of weeks I unwittingly gad a newer model to chose from.

2 laps with Erik

Lovely weather again today, so wore shorts! I supposed it is about time my legs started to get some sun.

Was nervous before running regarding how the left calf would react. Run went fine. Don't think calf is better so need to manage how I run, particularly nothing fast. Will choose my runs over the weekend to take account of that.

Erik did ask to slow down 1st time down the hill.

I think that max HR isn't accurate. Need to get that new HR strap.

Cycling 49:58 [3] 24.59 km (2:02 / km) +244m 1:56 / km
weight:74.5kg shoes: Spiuk ZS11

2 laps clockwise

17.41
18.02

Started a 3rd but gave up not long into it, the pain in my lower back that was at me yesterday resurfaced and was hurting more than yesterday. Didn't fancy 20 minutes of pain. Could be lots of reasons for it. Took some ibuprofen and will do some rolling/stretching focusing on the back this evening.

Calf is feeling ok so will chance an easy run tomorrow.

Fantastic day, sun shining, warmer than yesterday, and less wind. Definitely a day to do something outside, within your 2km limit.
4 PM

Walking 46:50 [2] 3.55 km (13:11 / km) +23m 12:46 / km
ahr:86 max:123

What is the usual lap these days. Lovely afternoon. Warm. Last Easter was very nice too but very different circumstances.

Back fine walking, so I’m inclined to blame bike position which is the same as always. That being said the painkillers might still have been working.

Our current discussion is what we are looking forward to doing once normality (or a resemblance of same) returns. A few things on the list, all what we used to do, for example going for cake with the boys.

Cycling 59:07 [3] 28.78 km (2:03 / km) +319m 1:57 / km
shoes: Spiuk ZS11

3 laps anti-clockwise

Lap times with Mangerton Road in brackets.
18.06 (6.05)
18.23 (6.00)
18.29 (6.18)

Think i'll try and start these cycles before the junction in future, having a consistent start/finish point, so taking in the triangle either to start or finish with.

Got caught twice at the junction at the start of the lap twice with traffic, bike the 1st time and van the 2nd.

Didn't feel too energetic starting off and definitely had issues on the last lap, not with my legs, lower back was sore. Was sore last time I got off the bike too but this was affecting me on the bike. Felt ok afterwards.

Knew the last lap wouldn't be good due to parts of the climb so did put some effort into the last couple of km.

Weather fine but definitely a wind from the southeast i'd say so was tough in the open on the climb but had it behind me on the flat.
4 PM

Walking 46:47 [2] 3.55 km (13:12 / km) +23m 12:47 / km
ahr:102 max:141

Usual loop. Less stops today to replace soothers. Erik didn’t want his snacks but changed his mind when he saw me make a start on them.
