Erik couldn’t make his mind up so ended up going on my own. He’d a huge tantrum after I left! I got out of the car twice and got his jacket for him, but each time said no.

Ran comfortably, lungs felt fine. Legs still sore/tired but not an issue. Just kept the pace easy. So no complaints.

Not a bad morning for a run either. Before breakfast too. Head sore starting off, not a great night sleep, double trouble.

Didn’t go great. Thought it would be a dry spin but turned out to be damp, not very wet so roads were ok.

Legs suffering still after Thursday so that didn’t help matters. Felt ok on Ladies View Climb, went better than I thought, kept a consistent effort. Then on to Molls Gap, that was fine too.

Turned around on the Kenmare side as per usual and came past Avoca to discover a serious headwind for the way back down. It probably made the spin up that bit easier and had no clue I’d a tailwind. The spin to Ladies View I didn’t enjoy as there was rain on the wind too.

Had a car behind me on the descent from Ladies View which I think motivated me, spin went better after this. But average speed overall I would not be happy with, but a few reasons for it.

Met the goats on the way down, not surprised, could smell them on the way up.

Torc Mountain from the bottom of the waterfall

Road up to the upper car park is still closed so went for the extra climb option. Thought it would be quiet on the mountain as a result but was proved very wrong on that count. A good few walkers along with a school group, think it's my local school, Lough Guitane, that were up there. How bad for a day at school!

Put a new battery in the HR strap, quick stop to check it was working after the waterfall climb to start, that's not an easy start to a run.

Overall I felt alright on the climb, but then got tired towards the end of the run. All the downhill had an affect.

Lovely day for a run.

No HR for this, must need a battery.

Took ages to get ready, lot of clothes going on. Wore all my new Aldi gear. Actually was good, the merino socks kept my feet warm, tights kept the legs warm, and jacket was a good wind breaker. Gloved ok too but not much movement in my fingers allows so braking could be an issue.

Didn't feel great, felt slow, probably due to a lack of cycling recently and the weather.

At the golf course on the way out a tractor came past with a slurry tanker on the back. Stuck to the cycling lane past the golf course entrance but took a lot of effort to keep pace. Decided to knock it off as it was a big effort but tractor slowed then so I tucked in behind him through Fossa, that was a nice break, but had to be wary in case of braking.

Quick cut of the grass since it was a nice evening.

Loop in Muckross

Think I ran a bit faster than I should have but didn't suffer in the legs for it, they felt ok.

Was thinking of Torc but weather a bit hit and miss so stayed low. Did get a few drops of rain but mostly fine. Think i'd 1 layer too many.

Home to make some bread & soup for lunch. The suffering of working from home ;-) Mary & Erik made scones too while I was out so going to be a good afternoon of eating.

Note
(rest day)

I've a bit of work to do mentally in changing my training mindset from a Summer one where the weather is good to an autumnal/winter one. Think the change in weather has had an affect on motivation, that and who knows what there is train for, if races will happen or not. Maybe if I did 1 turbo spin that might help readjust too. Might do some MTB research too as a new training option would help, buying a bike to give myself motivation does sound a bit extreme, but have been talking about it for a while.
