Upper Torc

Nice mix of trails and a good bit of climb. Had an anti clockwise run in mind but didn’t have it exactly planned.

Met some lads on mountain bikes a few hundred metres after starting and passed them easily. I was moving a lot faster than them. Met them later too on a path I was thinking of taking but decided to detour rather than having to challenge them downhill.

A lot more people in this part of the forest than I’m used to. Plenty of room though.

Cold but no real wind. Some drizzle too.

After the lads had their lunch we went to the beach! Erik even had a dip in the lake.

Had a go at seeing where Bluepool was in terms of the real world. Contemplating it for MapRun. The outside isn’t too bad. If I import a few running gpx files that might help with the paths. Been working on fixing my Tralee map too for MapRun.

In Spanish but with subtitles. A few minutes longer than the other series i'm watching too so good for a weekend.

Probably felt a small bit better pedalling today, time passed quicker.

Was feeling mostly ok but did find the last bit a struggle, more mental than physical. At least it’s Friday.

Achilles not desperate but minding it. Legs other than that got a bit tired towards the end, feeling good other than that.

Not a bad afternoon for a run, although a headwind + drizzle in the open area approaching Torc.

Webinar for the preceding 3 hours while working on a similar topic and the lads going mental at the same time, hoped this would have cleared my head, only did so to a limited extent. At least tomorrow is Friday.

Not much of note on todays spin in the sitting room. Did think about getting out on the road bike when putting the turbo back in the utility room afterwards, must touch base with the bike shop too about that MTB I was after.

(rest day)

Legs alright today, bit tired though, DOMS from Sunday I suspect. The achilles does need to warm up a bit in the morning before it feels comfortable.

Much easier shopping trip today than last week, the helper was in a better mood.

Legs feeling tired this morning after yesterday's run. Nice to feel some tiredness for a change. They were fine on the bike. Achilles feeling ok too after the run. So maybe the mountains suit it!

HR data isn't consistent, low to start, then increased by a good bit after around 36/37 minutes. Then dropped back again to finish. The same rpm for this period. I would trust it more for yesterday's run though.

January went pretty much to each weekly plan. But not running as much as i'd like to be. I'm just ticking over at the moment, definitely not regaining what was lost before Christmas, but getting a few weeks of consistency is still something. Being on the turbo doesn't equate to being on a bike either.
