Upper Torc

Mostly trails but a bit of exploring that was sort of unplanned. Wanted to see how far i'd get on the path on the Mangerton side of the river above the car park. Path finished but I kept going through the forest, got around a few crags, and through a line of Rhodoendron, thought I might have been in trouble there. Came out on the mountain and then back the Old Kenmare Road. So that meant the run took longer than expected. Legs were getting tired nearing home. Forest was actually clean enough but some fallen trees.

A lot of trees had fallen on the Old Kenmare Road in the recent storms which is a shame.

Nice day for a run, probably wearing too many layers.

Lough Guitane - Crosstown

Saw a bike in front from Rookery Road and then another lad caught up with me at the lights. My HR got high just thinking about trying to catch/stick with them. So shape ain't great. A lot of issues to work on.

Bit cool but less wind than Thursday. Moving slightly faster too, thought the Crosstown climb would have added more to the spin overall but not a lot. Need the Minish out and back for a few more km to get the hour, less than an hour today is fine. All about getting used to the road again.

Put a new battery in the HR strap so seem to have data, high average.

Not wanting to push things, body is tired too, so i'll listen to it.

Need maybe a new Garmin too, or at least a repair! The screen is loose and it could be working. Might try it for a turbo but definitely won't run with it.

Went to post garmin back so could get a replacement. Not a bad service considering watch is over 3 years old.

Lovely day so took a stroll around Ross Castle. Start of the route hadn’t dried up enough for my runners, muddy.

Want to do more walking. I think I benefitted from it during Lockdown 1.0 so hope to fit them in on cycling days. Anything to burn some calories.

Will see later I suppose if this idea was foolhardy or not. Weather alright so fancied some fresh air.

HR not showing on Edge so battery must be gone.
Didn't kill myself but HR would have been nice to measure the effort a bit better.

Legs tired after the short run yesterday. But cycling was fine.

Muckross

That horrible feeling when you wake up and realise that you are going for a run and have forgotten to charge your Garmin!!!
Used strava on the apple watch instead.

Felt ok on this short run. No issues with lungs or legs. Will see how I am tomorrow. If ok, i'll turbo tomorrow, or maybe even cycle on the road if the weather is like today. Cold morning but sun shining, it was early.

Took a slight detour checking if a path existed, didn't. A lot of low holly and I was wearing 3/4 tights. Then into a bit of low greenery. Got back to the path then.

Day off but not a huge pile to show for it apart from shopping. Thought I was done after Tesco but then had to go to M&S for a 'cookie', so got myself some hot cross buns since I was there.

Nice walk around Muckross.

Mild and no rain. Can't complain about my 5k.

Felt ok afterwards I think but running today would have been too soon.
