Saturday Dec 22

skiing 2:08:00 [3]
A decent ski on a decent winter solstice with a nearly full moon burning down, at about 98.6% illumination or maybe a tetch more. The winds were on the attack today!

Friday Dec 21

Yowsa!!! 1 [3]
The Weatherpeoples said there might be a little snow to take care of today, maybe an inch or two, but instead we got some Yowsa!!!

Excellent Yowsa!!! workout! There's potential for another Yowsa!!! workout this afternoon, if the snow keeps coming.
Yowsa!!! 1 [3]
A double Yowsa!!! day already, and there's still plenty of day for more Yowsa! Yowsa!!!
skiing 1:47:00 [3]
There were a couple of inches of new powder today, which was in the process of being groomed by the time I got out on the trails. It snowed lightly nearly the whole time I was skiing, until the end, by which time the moon decided to put in an appearance. Great conditions!

Thursday Dec 20

biking 39:00 [3]
Mild enough out that snow is melting off the streets even though it's overcast. Definitely snowing over on the other side of the valley. Maybe--hopefully--some will hit the XC trails on this later.
skiing 1:26:00 [2]
Snow quality = pretty good; snow quantity = on the low side, compared to past years. Time for some more snow!
Note
For folks who wonder if it's possible to combine a family, a demanding job, and high performance racing, there's an article in the WSJ (I imagine it will be in the Dec 21 print edition) worth reading.

If you subscribe to the online journal, then you can read it here:

skiing 1:32:00 [3]
Snow sparkles in the moonlight.
biking 1:10:00 [2]

Tuesday Dec 18

skiing 57:00 [3]
Sunshine was big the wind was lusty.
run intervals 1:26:00 [4]
8 x 5 minutes, out in The Flats. It smelled like Burger King.
biking 1:46:00 [2]

Monday Dec 17

skiing 1:49:00 [3]
Considering the wind, there were surprisingly few trees down. Temps were almost balmy, maybe even above freezing--whew! Spotted 14 skigurls, 5 guysonskis, 8 dawgs, 2 sets of turkey tracks, and 0 sub-morons. I don't think the sub-moron crowd is especially attracted to skiing, though you never know.
biking 1:17:00 [2]

Sunday Dec 16

skiing 2:04:00 [3]
First time my arm has felt nearly back to total strength and utility since the smash-up at Possum Trot. At any rate, I was able to ski completely normally at last. Probably still a good idea to not fall again anytime soon though!

Excellent sunshine, and even though it was a bit windy, the temps were moderate to the point that all was necessary was a light jacket. Quite a fine day to be out on the trails.
run 42:00 [2]
Just after sunset, when things start getting a little chillier again.
