Note
Roads were closed most of the day, but a little before 3 pm--when online travel advisories still showed I-80 as closed--I checked the highway cameras and saw a car captured on camera driving up the canyon. So I quickly shut things down at my desk and hopped in my truck. Sure enough, the gates across the highway were up, and so I headed up, too.
The parking lot at Happy Jack was empty and I couldn't really tell if there had been any work on the trails or how much snow might have fallen during this last storm. It turned out to be about 6" (very rough estimate because of how much strong winds had pushed everything around), and that a sub-set of the trails had been rolled. So out I went, and skied as long as I could before I had to head back to town to make a meeting.
