Orienteering race (Esholt Woods Blue) 53:10 [4] *** 6.01 km (8:51 / km) +235m 7:24 / km
spiked:24/27c shoes: Salomon Contagrip Fell Shoes

DQ'd =(
Was good all the way round, a slight hiccup at 10 and 25 totalling 30s tops but then I went down to the finnish, my map was folded and it looked exactly the perfect place for a last control I knew it was the right control my last one because I had remembered the last 3 control codes for 25 24 and 23 but when I went to download they said Id missed 26 and I thought "I know I punched the last one the control must be dodgy" Checked my map and saw 26.... Even then it was hard to spot with the control lines and the contours.

Lots of people will probably do the same like my dad did but he didn't get disqualified because his dibber malfunctioned and he went out to get the last one and the finnish again, my diddler wouldn't let me do that =( =( so not fair.

My Garmin didn't work either it sort of froze and was unresponsive, the run though was good fun in the snow. Not a good start to the year but as dean said "At least its improving from yesterday!"

Little review,
The best events of 2009 I think are both the Harvester w/e (middle and night) and the British (AC) sprint champs w/e (sprint and auchingarrach selection) which are way ahead of all other w/e 's of 2009. Also great events were SinS, Triple-O-Severn, Twin Peaks, November Classic w/e (oxford and Nov Classic) but they weren't in the same league.

Note

2hr New years eve walk there was lots of snow and some steep hills we also got lost... the stepping stones were submerged so we went on a detour which disappeared
On a side note Near the end it was REALY icy about 3-6cm thick all over the paths so we did some sledging without sledges

Orienteering race (Beacon Hill) 57:05 [4] *** 6.7 km (8:31 / km) +225m 7:18 / km
ahr:170 max:186 24c shoes: Salomon Contagrip Fell Shoes

There were some nasty bits of undergrowth in the area and one bit wrongly mapped or not updated that cost me about a minute I was fine for the first 3-4km but after that I had little energy and was very tired so made some mistakes in the nasty stuff near the end which cost alot
