Actual course 3.8km

FUN =) A good end to an atrocious JK

1st leg M48- relay team me then Zac then Aidan

Quite tense at the start only ever done one(?) 1st leg before

Everyone raced off at 100m pace when we started and i was like O.o but i managed to stay near the front for that bit.
To one i saw i needed the 2nd path, but i actually took the 3rd =/, was confundled for a bit but then realized and went to my control (20s)
It was a bit of a shock coming over the first sand dune because the majority of the 20+ pack was already 200m ahead of me and behind me was another pack which was just starting to appear. I messed up 2 as well by about 15s because i miss read the gorse bushed and ended up too far right.
But then the front of the pack were going into the nasty dunes =) I flew past may a baffled face in the 20m of dunes to 3. 4 was even better and after that 150m in the dunes i gained 15+ places. it was then a slog across the flat bit and I lest to the side of the pack discreetly while those behind followed the leaders and got lost. Then up to 6 through the dunes it was like 4 again before they all saw me and swore in unison because they had missed 5.
From then on i was on my own with just occasionally glimpsing tom butt and Matty P. ended up finishing 30s in the lead giving Zac an easy leg and helping him and Aidan bring us back in 1st =)

Orienteering race (Braunton JK Day 3) 48:40 [5] ***** 8.3 km (5:52 / km) +200m 5:14 / km
spiked:8/14c shoes: VJ Supra

Actual Course 6.9km 200m Climb (Garmin got the climb at 43)

Major 'getting my act together sesh' last night (ohmmm) =P
Sort of worked

1- 20s thought the control was on a hill (overtook boy ahead of me)
3- Depression to the north 10s + micro rc's
4- 25s thought it was on top of the spur so had to loose some height i got
5- Too high up the re-entrant - micro rc
6- Control to the north east not the west .... it was in the wrong place
9- 2min parallel error up a big re-entrant, realized within 20s but took 2min more to get back to the control because i was coming from a different place

2min 55s still not good but much better

0.o Aidans time (probs down to training)

Running warm up/down 35:00 [2] 3.0 km (11:40 / km)
shoes: VJ Supra

Got too warmed up

Orienteering race (Cookworthy, JK Day 2) 50:34 [3] *** 6.0 km (8:26 / km) +125m 7:38 / km
spiked:8/17c shoes: VJ Supra

(insert rude word here) this one up too

Very edgy and same attitude as yesterday, quick quick quick...

1- Wanted to catch Luke Addison and did but at the cost of a 35s mistake, overshot
2- wanted off the muddy path but wasted time because i went back on it later where it wasn't muddy
5- No plan really Got to path then started along it, changed my mind and climbed a bank, looked horrible so started back towards the junction 30s
6- stupid plan lost time 30s
7- No plan and found myself on the wrong side of a lake thing 20s
8- MUUDDD
9- Too low then too high 35s
13- Crossed too many streams 20s
14- Lost contact with the map and overshot 1min 50s (Jack Benham, Jack miller and Luke caught me)
15- Hit the wall

About 6min 30s which is crap
not yet sure if it was an improvement on yesterday

Running warm up/down 30:00 [1] 2.0 km (15:00 / km)
shoes: VJ Supra

Sprint/Urban Orienteering race (Bicton College, JK Day 1) 16:15 [3] *** 3.22 km (5:03 / km) +19m 4:54 / km
spiked:10/20c shoes: VJ Supra

Actual course 2.7km 40m climb

Stupidly easy course which i messed up big time.
I think the main issue was running faster than reading (not planning the routes) and loosing contact with the map.

Mistakes-
3- thought it would be faster using the style and inside path so doubled back 8s
4- Wanted to catch Harry(?) Miller so just ran to catch him but he went wrong so I didn't know where i was 5s
-Got crowded on the stupid raised walkway and punched the wrong control then had to queue up to get to mine 10s
5- No plan + got stuck in a queue again, someone fell off the walkway because they were in the way 10s
6- No plan ?s
7- got confused over the wall 3s
9- No plan, went to the wrong feature and didn't check the clues 10s
10- Miss-read the pvt land 3s
11- Got fuddled over where i was allowed and missed a much better route choice and a path 20s
12- Parallel error 5s
13 bad route choice 5s

1min 9s

Good start to the jk (sarcasm).... crap race

JK preparation-
Got some good insight into the JK areas and preparation, I think im mentally set for all the races but physically... not so much. Hopefully the sprint and day 1 will get me warmed up for the energy sapping sand dunes though none of the areas seem to favour me...
