Ordered some new O-shoes (with grip aidan) Adidas Swoops (Green), got disqualified on the British Champs (and got shouted at by Dean because of it) and completed my second ever string course, quite an eventful day.
10 AM

Orienteering race (String course) 7:07 [5] ***** 0.7 km (10:10 / km)
spiked:0/11c shoes: Salomon Contagrip Fell Shoes

Soo difficult, and physically demanding. I decided to team up with Adam Potter and Sam Horswill because we didnt feel we were up to the challenge of getting round this most technical of courses alone.

It was good fun though, i saw pigglet and tigger and a baloon! and I got a Lollypop! =)

=L ;) jkin it was a laugh (but the string went wrong!! =O)
11 AM

Running warm up/down 25:00 [2] 2.0 km (12:30 / km)
shoes: Salomon Contagrip Fell Shoes

Terrain running and stuff
12 PM

Orienteering race (BRITISH!!) 1:02:19 [4] *** 9.15 km (6:49 / km) +250m 6:00 / km
spiked:12/18c shoes: Salomon Contagrip Fell Shoes

Yeah, the british. everything twas good =) (mostly)

I had 3 goals- 1 beat zac
2- Catch alex M 12min
3- Have a decent run

I didnt beat zac but im not that bothered about that one, i didnt catch alex 12min, but i did have a decent run and enjoyed it (minus miss punching- oops!)

Because of all the map geeking i knew how to take the area and got some good route choices which suited me well. Also though i did make a few mistakes.

3- Overshot 30s
6- (Didnt check control codes) Thought it was a hill and it was a depression, realised immediately and tried to find the depression but missed it about 3 times 1min 50s
8- (Didnt check control codes) Miss punched on a control on a steep slope when i was looking for an earth bank.
9- Slow
10- Disorientated, went the wrong way out for 150m so had to choose another route choice (dunno time loss its almost impossible to tell)
15-Overshot (must have gone within 5m of the control) 1min 40s

Total 4minutes
I used the garmin for the times this time and its surprising because i got a total of 2min 15s mistakes by guessing.

Really enjoyed the event though i didnt go 100% because i could feel my hip most of the way and didnt want to push it for today or tomorrow.

5 PM

Orienteering (Hanging at Silkstone) 30:00 [2] 3.7 km (8:06 / km)
shoes: Salomon Contagrip Fell Shoes

Fine, though slight hip problem.

Orienteering (White) 7:00 [2] 1.3 km (5:23 / km)
shoes: Salomon Contagrip Fell Shoes

Re-placing controls put out by my dad. I never knew you could mistake an earth wall for a hide.
6 PM

Note

Rain, hmm.
The least ideal spring cup area because hardly anyone could come i knew and it was too far from cosy sheffield for many SYO and to top it it was the first rainy day for AGES. Still we somehow got a good turnout and they liked my courses!! =D (not like canklow).

Some things said- "best course i have ran for over a year" "the area had british middle potential" (though im not sure about the latter =L) I think even the ShUOC guys liked it but its hard to tell..

SO really happy =) I actually enjoyed it and it was a major stress relief from school. In future though im not gonna plan any event below a local.
8 PM

Night Orienteering =D (Collecting at Silkstone) 40:00 [2] 4.5 km (8:53 / km)
shoes: Salomon Contagrip Fell Shoes

Hip was a bit worse but i think it will be OK for the brits. Half night-o with my brilliant new light. Had to rescue my dad because he forgot his light

Orienteering race (CSC Qualification) 24:38 [4] *** 3.48 km (7:05 / km) +120m 6:02 / km
spiked:9/16c slept:3.0 shoes: Salomon Contagrip Fell Shoes

Scardale and Knapton. Hilly scree area. ='( Wasn't a counterr..

All i could think was fast. Im letting pressure get to me and treating it too much as a running race. Shocking orienteering on a light green course.

2- Slightly too low, very good pace 15s
3- Too high + not sure where i was 15s
4- Hesitated on the spur and couldn't see the control in the re-entrent because of a tree 5s
6- Bad route choice, didnt see the double crags in the quarry area and got shredded going down the scree 20-30s
8- No bearing on the obvious bearing control 20s
9- Saw the control but went for another even though i knew it was the wrong one... =/ lost time going the long way round 20s
12- The 'open' was a large thicket, was slightly off my bearing so got on the wrong side of this thicket and had to go through it to get to my control 50s

2min about 30s Gahhh!
I AM going to take the british very steady because i am not performing at the moment traffic light to the max and use proper bearings (like today but without the 'going off the bearing' part).

Running warm up/down 10:00 [1]

Drills, hills, ?ills and running.
