Sunday May 23

Orienteering 1:14:44 [4] 6.1 km (12:15 / km) +170m 10:45 / km
Pond Mt Red - 80, humid. Pretty clean run focussing on looking around at terrain and maintaining some forward speed. Bit of trouble reading map as move along and must slow pretty much. But kept good map contact - came up short on some and off to L and beyond on one but able to locate position quickly. Nice course.
Orienteering (Control pickup) 34:00 [2]
Rerun of several legs. Bug spray starting to wear off so had company and still found numerous spider webs to go thru.

Red - Splits

Saturday May 22

Orienteering (Streamering) 2:00:00 [1]
5 Ponds - 60, grey, rain threatening. Streamering sites for White/Yell courses and then checking Red sites adn Lyn progress at the Green course. May tone down the GR/BR. Hmmm.

Friday May 21

Strength (nycb) 45:00 [1]
Almost full tape but couldn't deal with final sequence.

Also planted garden: tomatoes, peppers etc. May be a bit early as soil's still cold but...
Turned compost.

Thursday May 20

Trail run (Warm up/cool down) 30:00 [1] 3.5 mi (8:34 / mi)
Horse tr to pkg lot & final road run home - 65, sunny. Easy run trying to focus on terrain.
Trail run (Hill fartlek) 40:00 [4] 4.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
Blue tr/woods rd/horse tr - Hard push both up and down while trying to see terrain. Fun good effort. Felt really good at end.

Wednesday May 19

Orienteering (Training) 2:00:00 [1]
Mt Tom - 65, grey. With PG performing diagnostics on recent wacko performances. He was kind, but I may be a hopeless case. At any rate, we ran through a series of great exercises, suggestions and training ideas.

Thanks Peter. Hope to live up to it now.

Tuesday May 18

Trail run 56:04 [1] 5.9 mi (9:29 / mi)
ahr:139 max:161
Purple loop - 65, humid, still tired from we. Was going to try to go either long or harder, but mellowed as soon as we started.

Also the stick nazis are back!

Monday May 17

Note
I seem to be having on going problems at A meets about 10' into course with blanking on a leg, maybe two, like this weekend. My thinking now is that this may be from warming up too early, standing around for 30' or more, and then going off. The course is now like a second warm up. Knowing it takes 10' or so too warmup and get into a good thinking routine, now at 10 minutes is the pause between warm up and competition? Don't really know, but will try to be more careful with the warm up sequence.
