Day 3/Pelican Bay Red - Late start so very hot in open. Ran from shade to shade where possible. Living on Motrin (vitamin M) and ankle was ok for running with elastic brace. Even rolled again 100m after start and felt nothing - yeah Motrin. 1400mg Tues/1600mg Wed. plus ice and rest Thurs. Swollen and starting to color up nicely.

Run went well exc went too low to 6 and overshot for 6' error. Otherwise accurate but not always best route but generally good.

Day 3: Red - Splits

Tuesday Aug 3

Orienteering 47:26 [4]4.85 km (9:47 / km)
ahr:162 max:177
Day 2 First with the Most - V windy and cool at start, but fine once running until badly rolled L ankle going to 5. Caught studs on sandstone rock as jumping over and landed on ground on side of foot. Stopped tried to walk a bit and move it and able to start running again after a few steps but generally painful, slow. O was good exc to 3, to R to similar spur. lost 1'. Rest good.

Day 2: Red - Splits

Monday Aug 2

Note
Finally found a computer. Will fill in more as time permits.
Very tired today from 4 days so far so took rest day for shower, shopping and email.

Sunday Aug 1

Orienteering 1:23:50 [4]7.26 km (11:33 / km) +255m 9:49 / km
ahr:158 max:167
1000 Day - Day 1 Red - Hot sun. Good O, but slow. Didn't have much energy, probably a result of chase on Sat. Interesting course in Toe of happy Jack, then long slog on prairies to finish. OK exc to 13, went up reentrant too soon after running along cow path. Faster to go up to road if you get the right turn.

Day 1 Red - Splits

Saturday Jul 31

Orienteering 35:02 [4]2.7 km (12:59 / km)
Gates of Hell Prologue - Had good run going just behind Ken and ahead of Mark D when over shot 6 and lost them. Then got distracted leaving 7 and headed off at 90 deg to 8 around similar feature. Took a while to figure it out and watched Ken and Mark head to 10. Lost about 6' or so getting a later start for Chase.
Orienteering 1:05:30 [4]6.96 km (9:25 / km)
ahr:161 max:175
Pitcher Hill Chase - More open prairie run than morning, with interesting short legs in between. Was with Deb H and caught by Charlie at 2 but Deb got confused going to 5 and Charlie missed 6. Was alone then until open run to 14 and saw Phil HT in distance and Sharon as I punched. O was on all around and able to run much of it, just not v fast.

Prologue - Splits

The Chase - Splits

Friday Jul 30

Orienteering 1:13:54 [4]
Plutonic Pleasures Stampede - Sunny but slight sprinkle going to 1.
Followed masses to 1, then Peggy to 2. Decided to sort out myself and headed low to 3 followed too many people across wrong stream and up reentrant in wrong valley. Was unsure what happened for long time tho people kept saying wrong. Finally figured it out (this was not part of the competition remember) and headed to real 3 totally alone. Gradually picked up a few people in later legs. Rest was clean, mostlyout in open prairies.

Thursday Jul 29

Orienteering (Training) 1:08:02 [1]
Bisbee Hill - Easy run around to get used to terrain, map, altitude altho felt pretty good was still gasping.

Rt: 1 2 10-17, 6 OP Charlie. Too high at 14, went back to relocate off rocks and got it.
