Rockhouse Day 2 - 65, sunny. Not so good today. Headed off with some urgency, planning general route but not the specifics. Got to edge of #1 circle, saw more water than expected and headed down to wrong swamp. Then came back to L a bit before figuring position. Lost about 7'. good on next several but badly boomed 7, located in a vague contour area. Lyn had caught me and followed me to wrong area. Didn't focus well on terrain or map for another 5-6' error. Rest ok but damage done.
1st M60 overall, but not a good showing today vs Green. 12th overall

Green X - Splits

Saturday Oct 2

woods run (Warm up/cool down) 25:00 [2]
Hogencamp A meet - trying to get focussed and then unwind.
Orienteering 1:06:46 [4] 5.3 km (12:36 / km) +200m 10:36 / km

Hogencamp Day 1 - 65, grey. Overall a good steady run. Careful after Friday. Able to run trails for much of course and get good attackpts. Boomed 12, staying too low when I saw the Br control. Stood on top of cliff above it a bit trying to figure position, then up and punch. But lost 6-7'.
1st M60, 9th Green

Green X - Splits

Friday Oct 1

Orienteering (Training) 1:30:00 [2]
Jackie Jones - 70, sunny. Went down to Harriman early for the A meet to get some time in on the area maps and familiarize ourselves with the veg, terrain etc. So ran part of a course from the '96 Roundup and got suitably humbled. Parked at Lake Welch and climbed up to near the start testing the Green (it was). Didn't really find the start but thought we did. Then found the 1st control dead on. Was good as had really floundered around back in 96, basically not having a clue what I was doing. Then a long leg to 2 and lost track towards end, contouring around rather than bearing. Took a while but finally got location and then the feature. Had to run back to car before they locked up and found the actual start on the way.

Wednesday Sep 29

Strength (nycb 2) 55:00 [1]
Easy set on abs, balance but little of jumping. Legs still sore.

Tuesday Sep 28

Trail run (Warm up/cool down) 30:00 [2]
WH Res - HTC XC Trng. 60, lt drizzle after heavy rain all day (4"). Trails were puddled but starting to drain. Dark and difficult to see.

Easy jog around before and again after when we tried to find Larry who seemed to have taken a wrong turn in the dark gloom.
Trail run (Race) 40:10 [5] 8 km (5:01 / km) +120m 4:40 / km
ahr:169 max:182
HTC XC trng - last session - a test run of the 8k course. Interesting after the heavy rain left by the remnants of Jeanne. Had a good run, went off fast, leading to the first mile then passed by Bob who promptly rolled a ankle and slowed. Caught back up by the hill after 2mi and held steady 40m or so lead rest of way (couldn't get too far ahead as he didn't know the course;} He was stronger on the hills, guess still feeling the Saturday run.
Splits: 7.20, 8.09, 11.01, 6.04, 7.35 Obviously something wrong with 3rd split as Lyn had similar splits. 3rd had a couple of hills but not that much. She measured the O map and figured it was off by ~500m.
So enough of these roads and trails and back to the woods.

Monday Sep 27

Note
Termite day - Get the ugly white buggers!!!
