Trail run (Warm up) 20:00 [1]
EMPO Day 2 - 60, grey. Run along escarpment to start and back to loosen up. Sadly missed Gari before my run....
Orienteering 1:11:33 [4] 6.45 km (11:06 / km) +215m 9:30 / km
EMPO A Day 2, Thacher - Really interesting and different course and terrain. Generally clean run altho parts got slightly confused. 3 was off to R a bit. Dead on for 4-7 but had Erin Schirm and his school mate go roaring around me for most of this part and Peter finally caught up on way down from 5 and took across the swamp route out of 7. Should have followed but thought I can compare routes by going trail. Wound up going to L to soon at control, missing and punching at next spur nose - #237 instead of #238. I always check numbers and thought I did here, was so certain! First ever mispunch that I can remember (but that's not saying too much these days as Lyn will vouch!!). Anyway have posted time as the legs turn out to be pretty much the same length, altho my route was a bit longer and not the one I would take if I were really heading for that feature. Strange - it didn't feel right leaving and heading along to 8: stream too soon, reentrant slope wrong - but the alarms didn't go off. At that slightly brain dead zone. Would have been 2nd M60/4th Gr Y.

Did catch foot/ankle in one of the limestone cracks causing bruise on inside L ankle bone.

Good job by CNYO/EMPO. look forward to getting back to these areas. Hopefully with overall happier finish for all participants. Good job Glen.

Trail run (Warm up) 20:00 [1]
60, grey. Easy warm up along the roads and parking to loosen up after drive up in the morning.
Orienteering 29:02 [4] 3.53 km (8:13 / km) +75m 7:26 / km
CNYO/EMPO Day 1 - Gilbert Lake. Good steady run. Right on just about all around. Wound up with a start time just before the first leg of the relay finished and was passed by PG going to 4, punched and saw Bob Lux coming in and had him with me through 9 when we got on the roads and he took off. Crossing swamp to 7, foot slipped and R knee bashed into branch causing brief stoppage for pain. Then able to continue. Now (Tues) bruised up and sore.

Had slight confusion at 9 trying to locate. Had probably over pushed chasing Peter and trying to stay with Bob. Still good run. The detailed nav thru the cabins at the end was a challenge. 2nd M60/6th Gr Y

Friday Oct 29

Trail run 30:30 [1]
Across Beaver Triang, back B Door-Simsbury Rd - 48, light grey. Trying out new shoes but legs loggy. Easy with several strides on road back

Wednesday Oct 27

Trail run (Woods run/sprint too) 2:18:47 [2]
Mcleans Bissell Brk area - 60, sunny, leaves in mid fall. With Leif and Lyn (for a while). Crossed Beaver Triang, out South Tr to waterfall, continued on loop to slope of The Knolls. Leif and I headed up to explore; Lyn stayed on trails and headed home. We did a tour over the Knolls to a small pond, now a marsh, back over to trail, crossed log over brook to 1K course. Did the course with only slight bobble but slow on uphills (approaching 2 hrs of run), then headed back home. Nice run, good terrain - some nice open woods but also got into some mt laurel altho not thick. Overall good steady effort trying to give Leif a reasonable workout and not hold him back. He was quite kind to us oldies;}
Did 1k in 7:44.

Tuesday Oct 26

Trail run 54:09 [3] 5.9 mi (9:10 / mi)
Purple loop - 40, clear sunny morning. Good steady effort, felt easy which suppose it should after a couple days rest. Threw in a few speeds on long downhill road.
Strength (Garden) 1:00:00 [1]
Turned over compost pile and then started turning garden rows. Got about 4 done and threw in some winter rye.

Monday Oct 25

Note
Replace insulation along basement sill and replaced ceiling, both opened up to get access to the chewy termites. This should end the saga of the white bugs.
