| Tranquility Lake/Oak Mt, AL, Team fundraiser Day 1 - 50, sunny, nice running, open woods. Great run, good O, read terrain and had good route choices. So overall a good day, just 2k longer than needed - course lines were printed very light. Didn't see #5 until got to #6! Rather than bag it and go in, decided to take different route back, ease up a bit and enjoy the woods as if a long training day. Of course the leg I needed to do was the long leg, .9k direct with ~80m climb each way. So a bit of extra running worth at least 22' on this leg and probably slower rest of w.e. 3rd M60 | ||

| Orienteering (Practice) 45:00 [1] | ||

| Model for Team Fundraiser at Oak Mt - 58 (warmest of w.e., Clear, dry, open woods nice for running but steep and visibility somewhat limited but remaining leaves. Still looks like should be good. | ||
Thursday Jan 13 | ||
| Strength (Heavy snow) 30:00 [1] | ||
| Shovelled drive, about 2" of heavy wet, almost total water in main area, soggy snow. Supposed to get to 55 but now it's 35 and foggy. Cold coming tomorrow so everything will be concrete. | ||
Wednesday Jan 12 | ||
| Strength (nycb 1) 1:00:00 [1] | ||
| abs, legs, balance. getting better gradually with the degage. | ||
Tuesday Jan 11 | ||
| Road run (Beaver Loop) 27:33 [1]3.1 mi (8:52 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Verdict DS #2 | ||
| 32, bit of sun, edge of road slippery in shady parts. Easy run to test foot - ok. and just go easy.
Then chipped more ice off drive before next snow/sleet/rain event tonight. And decided better light up hot tub as temp was at 32, but hadn't started solidified yet. So got it to 104 and enjoyed the start of the snow;->
Monday Jan 10 | ||
| Trail run (Purple loop) 1:03:22 [2]5.9 mi (10:43 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Verdict DS #1 | ||
| 32, grey, ice falling off branches everywhere like rain but harder. Sure we would get hit by a branch or worse. 3-4" of snow packed fairly weel on most trails tho softer from warmer temp. Used Sure Foots on trails and had good traction. Running was like being on a beach, hard work with the soft footing.
Developed a sore L foot in the arch area this afternoon. Will see if it malingers.
Sunday Jan 9 | ||
| Trail run 1:34:12 [2] | ||
| shoes: VJ Pro 1 | ||
| Mcleans - 25, sunny, snow set up solid on trails but thick crust over 4-5" snow off trail. Most trails had enough foot traffic to make a 10-12" path of varying smoothness -some very uneven but most fairly good. Good footing with studs.
Did large ccw loop, mostly on back trails - blue, purple, horse. Hard going in some of the looser snow. Only potential danger was occasional large snaps followed by deep thud as large branches broke from ice load - fortunately all in the distance. Also misstepping so to slip off trail or land at an angle rather than vertical meant ankles hitting the sharp crust layer. Tried a short section of line-O off-trail. Section of woods was thick white pine, now burdened down with ice. Hard going and no vis. And crusty snow made it not much fun, so headed to trails for a good fun run.
