Sunday May 8

Trail run warm up/down 15:00 [1]
weight:152lbs shoes: VJ Pro 1
Lincoln Woods - cool, windy so tried to warm up a lot before going out. And brief jog around after.
Orienteering race 1:10:11 [4]***** 5.7 km (12:19 / km)
spiked:12/19c weight:152lbs shoes: VJ Pro 1
Lincoln Woods, RI Red course - 50, grey, very windy adn cold at start but fine in woods.
Very sloppy effort. Big trouble reading map and making sense of it, but probably just hurrying to much and misunderestimating the difficulty of the terrain. Seemed to be confused by the mapping of the veg, clearings, rock features mapped vs unmapped. They tended to only map big rock features and not map bare rock. Also many new bike trails thru woods.
But overall, interesting course and effort. Lots of moderately short legs. Good training.

Red - Splits

Saturday May 7

Trail run warm up/down 28:00 [1]
weight:151lbs shoes: Verdict DS #2
To Purple tr/home - 50, windy, sprink. Sloggong along beaver pond so decided to push hill to gate to get some kind of form going. Easy going home.
Trail run intervals (Terrain) 29:00 [4]
max:180 weight:151lbs shoes: Verdict DS #2
Purple tr from gate to 3 hills - Nice running in woods. Trail intervals: 90" hard/30" rcy for 15' then 3' stopped and 11' more of same. HR from hand measure in midst of second set. Felt good. Started to work on lengthening stride during 2nd set on woods road section and carry on to single trk, bit harder there.

Friday May 6

Cycling (Road) 1:00:00 [1]
weight:152lbs
Granby/Tarriffville Tour - 55, grey. First a trip to the bike shop to see about fixing the shifter problem, just some sales girl so went to Starbucks instead. Then an easy spin down to T'ville, first of the year. Legs certainly not tuned to riding, trouble pushing any kind of gears.

Thursday May 5

Mapping 5:00:00 [1]****
weight:152lbs shoes: Soloman XA Blue/Yellow
Ratlum Mt - 65, sunny, few blk flies about and one amorous tick. Explored the general area of the DeWeese estate. Spent lots of time fighting mt laurel to get to a few sections of nice woods. Will have to see if this can be made into anything runnable.

Wednesday May 4

Strength (nycb 2) 55:00 [1]
weight:153lbs
Abs, balance etc.

Spent most of the afternoon trying to get bike ready for some riding - new chain to fix shift problem, new tires. As in all things, the chain didn't help - tried 2 new ones and I think the front shifter mechanism (rsx hyperglide) may be shot as no amount of adjustment seems to help. But then these things are much more complicated than the old simple levers. Plus manage to pinch and hole one of the tubes while changing the tire. Ugh!

Tuesday May 3

Trail run long (fartlek) 1:18:00 [2]
weight:152lbs shoes: Asics DS Trnr
Horse tr - Blue to granby field loop - down hill/esker - home - 55, sunny, granby loop muddy from horses and recent rain. Nice run with some fartlek: 2x 5'/2'rcy on horse tr going out, another push/stretch legs coming back after esker. First one felt real klutzy but got into good stride by end altho back continues to bother. After 2nd, stopped and stretched out back and relieved pressure some.

Monday May 2

Trail run 38:00 [1]
weight:154lbs shoes: NB 833
Beaver trail - 60, sunny. Easy rcy run. Slow start going out, but felt bit better on way back for a while. Perhaps too much celebration of our duel wins at WP;-}
