Sunday May 14

Event: 28th Annual Billygoat Run

Orienteering race 2:40:38 [4] *** 12.8 km (12:33 / km) +450m 10:40 / km
25c weight:150lbs shoes: VJ Falcon
Billygoat '06 - Macedonia SP, Kent - 50, wet, few dribbles. Good run until took a flier on 20 heading way L to trail, going too far on it and dropping. Then tried to contour around and figure location. Lost 8' and pack. Solo rest of way and urgency off. Nice run lots of climb. Moving slowly Monday, otherwise fine.

- Splits

Saturday May 13

Event: Pre-Billygoat Sprints

Orienteering race 16:48 [4] *** 1.8 km (9:20 / km) +50m 8:12 / km
spiked:3/6c weight:150lbs shoes: VJ Pro 1
WCOC Pre-Billygoat Sprint 1 - 53, grey, wet woods but rain held off and sun even came out later - yeah! Bobbled 2 by bouncing back and forth across approach stream and taking long way around marsh, 3 hesitated, 4 went high, then didn't see all of wall on map and came up short, hesitating. Rest (2 controls) went ok. Nice area for map but map needs work on ocad colors.
Orienteering race 18:16 [4] *** 1.9 km (9:37 / km) +45m 8:36 / km
spiked:2/5c shoes: VJ Pro 1
Pre-Billygoat sprint 2 - More bobbles: went high on 1, stopped short on 2, cut of trail one bend too soon on 4. So not best of days.
Note
Actually over-estimated rain yesterday as didn't want to go out and read gauge in the down pour. But then did - At 1300 we only had 2.8" (not the 4" I thought) and then another 1.6" thru to 800 this morning. Lots of water around on the drive to Kent today. Good thing it was at the top of the mountain.

Sprint #1 (Yellow) - Splits

Sprint #2 (Green) - Splits

Friday May 12

Strength (nycb 2) 55:00 [1]
weight:151lbs
Regular routine though easier on the abs part as had a nice rest while talking with Jim about BG, interrupting the ab ovals. Able to start back up after recovery. Weren't going to go back and do again.

Nice watching the rain come down. About 4" so far this morning. Hopefully will wring itself out for the weekend.

Thursday May 11

Trail run 40:00 [1]
weight:151lbs shoes: NB 833
Beaver Trail - 58, grey, wet, light mist. Knees really unhappy today - going out, the little bumps at top of shins hurt with each step on the road. Stretched, ran Beaver trail and were ok on the trail and on way back. Got into an almost reasonable stride on road but still not happy knees.

Wednesday May 10

Trail run warm up/down 5:00 [1]
weight:151lbs shoes: VJ Pro 1
Sessions - 55, grey, threatening rain. Jog around to loosen up knees a bit and warm up. Not too mauch as was to be easy run.
Orienteering 48:00 [4] *** 4 km (12:00 / km) +125m 10:23 / km
spiked:9/11c shoes: VJ Pro 1
Sessions Green course (from last spring?) - Ran it hanging streamers for Lyn after I passed her at 2. Good steady O except to 4 - driffted way R and ran wrong trail and even managed to get compass to agree tho probably a 30 deg difference in bearing - Ugh. Rest Ok. Decided some of the features might need to be deleted, like miniscule rock face cliffs. Also lots of new mtb trails, unauthorized.
Orienteering 42:31 [4] *** 4 km (10:38 / km)
spiked:10/10c shoes: VJ Pro 1
Sessions - After chatting with Kate Moran (who works at Sessions. What a deal!) decided to go back out and retry 4. Started backwards 11-10, then crossed over to 3,4,5,6,7,8 and down to 2,1. Good effort - legs were all faster except two with significant hills coming this way.

Tuesday May 9

Strength 1:00:00 [1]
weight:152lbs
More gardening - this time pruning shrubs - forsythia got really shorn - and taking out an old slow growing hemlock that out grew its spot. Then chipping the lot. Most of the morning. Good back and arms stuff.

Monday May 8

Strength 1:00:00 [1]
weight:151lbs
Gardening - turning over the remaining two rows of rye, and then the compost pile (like my t-shirt says "Compost Happens"). So good back workout.
